coilovers always have noise?

hey everyone, just installed my rear coilovers today, and i can hear some noise at the back, sounds like the springs are too hard, and go to up and down---Dong,Dong,Dong?and the noise are very small. the guy installed coilovers who told me thatz normal for coilovers, is that ture? thanks

What brand are they? generally coils should not make noises. My last car with coils only started making noise when the bottom spring locking mechanism came loose and the pring rotated as the front wheels turned.

who knows if they are brand new they might loosen up with time though.

i bought them for second hand. The noise only can be heard when the road is really bad, but very small. since i installed them, the handing is much better than before. The rear wheels has been bent in, too. The camber has become negative, but the tyre noise become bigger.

What type of tops do you have? Are they solid metal tops or do they have insulation?

If they're solid metal tops, its because of the metal top plate hitting against your strut top :)

It might be something that contributes to the increase in sound but I'd guess the major factor is the coilovers since many coilovers don't have insulation unlike factory which come with rubber tops, bump stops, etc

I'd say the pillow balls are slightly warn and knocking a little when you go over bumps. It's pretty common.

time to rebuild them as th sound shot. my mechanic said no camber in rear so y do u using pillows there :(
