Hi everyone, I dont know anything about cars but I figured there would be alot of very knowlegable people on the forums. My Toyota hiace is registered in QLD and i'm selling it soon but when i went to get the road worthy certificate done the mechanic failed it because he said that he couldn't locate an engine VIN. I asked him what i could do about this and he didn't seem to know, said maybe i needed to contact queensland transport. HELP! what does this mean? or could we be looking in the wrong place? Its 1989 so an old van. We can find the chassi plate but no engine plate. Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated :0)

1) I'd change mechanics - Yours sound incompetant

2) The engine VIN is found stamped on the Engine Block itself. Being old, yours might be covered in oil, dirt, grease.

grab a torch light and look thorougly.
