Overdrive with Aftermarket Shift Knob

So this is the plan, I m thinking of getting one of those aftermarket shift knob and boot for my 94 Vienta. Main reason is all my mates own either Honda EK/EG or DC's and have dumped a whole load of useless stuff onto me.

Anyways, I m pretty familiar with changing the knob but I want to know if I can just connect the wire on the O/D together otherwise shorting it without a button. I drive with O/D on all the time so I really cbb making room for another button.

*PROBLEM SOLVED* Shift knob + type-r shift boot installed and O/D button rewired next to ECT button =D
