I have recently got one of the newest Aurion ATX cars and the auto lights appear to have no hysterisis on the setting. This means as I drive at dusk if I drive past the shade of a tree or under an overhead bridge the lights flash on for the short time of the dark bit and then off again. It appears to the car in front as though I have flashed them. This also happens in the day if you go under a rail brisge or something a little wider. I have contacted Toyota but they say talk to the local service guy, the local service guy says he does not think it can be changed.

I drive a lot of hire cars and other cars seem to come on at one setting and then go off at a much lower setting with a small delay preventing this.

Has anyone else noticed this and is there a fix, I prefer to keep the auto lights on especially when the other family are driving so they do not forget to turn them on.

Thanks in advance.

Toyota can adjust the sensitivity of the auto headlights between the following parameters. There is no set definition of the level of light/darkness required per given adjustment, so it's just trial and error really. The adjustment range is as follows:

LIGHT 2 / LIGHT 1 / NORMAL / DARK 1 / DARK 2

Thank you both for your responses, I saw in the manual that the sttings can be changed but thye appear to only chnage the level so the problem would just occur at different time of day.

Turning off the feature defeats the option of having the feature in the first place, it is a very nice feature if it worked correctly.

Thank you and best regards,

DJKOR is correct,as there is numerous settings available.Just by chance if you are using a dashmat is the hole for the sensor clear and not partially covered, just a long shot
