The early ra23/ra28 celicas ran a w50 box.

The RA65 would have a W55/w57/w58 box.

They have different bellhousing patterns on the gearbox.

If you swapped the bellhousings as well, then it should bolt on.

The W50 probably could survive with the bigger engine, its life depends on how thrashed it already is and how its driven.

Should be easy enough to find a W55/w57/w58 box though?

What did the RA40 and RA60 run though?

its a w57 and i want to put it into what was an auto that ran a A40D

will it matter that the diff thats in the car is out of an auto? or should that b changed also?

The RA40 ran a W50. The RA60 is W55/7/8.

As long as you get the right bellhousing it should fit in place. You will likely need matching crossmember and tailshaft though.

it will function fine with the auto diff ratio. (I'd drive it and see how well it matches the gear ratios and then only change it if its an issue).
