I have an 2009 SX6. I have just started to notice a knocking noise coming from the rear of the car, but it only happens when you get to about 60+km/hr. Will be ringing the dealer on monday but just wondering if others have had this or any ideas what it might be.

Rear sway bar mounts are one thing to check. Another is anything tied in with the suspension. Basically, it's not something that you can probably diagnose without seeing/hearing it first hand.

Another ting that you can get is if the tire iron or jack lever becomes loose. Had that happen a couple of times and it bangs against the spare tire well in the boot. Sounds like the rear is going to fall apart, but it's just something simple. Worth checking that out just in case while you are at it.

For those of you playing along at home the toyota service centre have diagnosed the problem as being with the rear suspension. It is apparenlty leaking and as such is causing the knocking noise. Parts have been ordered and will be replaced under warranty next week so lets hope it does the job.
