hey guys,

today some guy pulled out infront of me and i had to jump on the brakes. it appears i now have a bit of a flatspot on the tyre.

is there anything i can do to fix this problem or should i look at replacing the tyre ?

will it just fix itself gradually as the tyre wears more or ?

cheers

If it is on the front then go to a back road (private preferably) and learn to do some burnouts or launching for drag races ;)

If it is on the back....swap it to the front...and do as above.

I had a flat spot on one of my tyres from a similar incident. I simply did some nice big burnouts etc. and got rid of it :D

Im no expert on tyres, but (normal) road tyres are a very hard compound, so the flat spot shouldn't be too bad. I have never been able to feel any vibration after locking my wheels. But those have been fairly small since I unlock the wheels pretty quickly.

I think that if you have a flat spot that is deep enough to leave less then the minimun required tread depth or if you can feel any vibration that is just annoying then you might wanna replace it/them.

But if it doesn't meet those two criteria then they will eventually wear around the flatspot making the tyre round again (or egg shaped  ).

If you want to be destructive then you could always do burnouts on the tyres which have the flat spots, that will make them round again :P
