Does anyone here buy a spare alloy wheel when buying a new set of alloy wheels from the tyre store? What I'm saying is buy 4 for the car, and buy a 5th one as a spare? The store asked me if I wanted a 5th one yesterday when I installed new wheels.

I'm guessing this is in case you screw up and jam it into a kerb or alike?

its so you can have a spare wheel that is the exact same size as your alloys. If you get a flat your car doesn't look like you are going to the skids, nor do you have the problem of running different size wheels/tires on the one axle.

It's not a bad idea if you can afford the extra wheel and tire.

Make sure it fits where your current spare sits unless you just want a 5th one to keep just in case..

My current spare wheel is a 14" steel wheel that came with the base model Ascent Corolla. So the spare alloy won't fit that tyre since it's 15" (obviously).

I just plan to keep a spare alloy maybe somewhere at the bottom of the shed or something just in case doomsday comes.
