Hi Guys.Just got some 18inch wheels nad need to get some new tyres on them. They already have 225/40/18 tyres but was told not to go any higher than 45mm in thickness becuase it will affect the ABS. IS THIS TRUE?? I want to go higher to 225/50/18. Do you guys reckon it will affect the ABS????????????

do some research on what the numbers mean.

the 40 profile is actually the height of tire wall calculated as a percentage of the width.

40 profile is where you want to be mate.

You really can’t go that high on the sidewall with 18inch passenger car tyres, ideally the size you already have or 235/40ZR18 is really where it's at

I really have no idea if the ABS system would be compromised but I am sure that the speedo will be inaccurate due to the larger rolling size of the 50 profile tyre.

Starting with the standard tyre size use the calculator on the link below to gauge the correct plus size fitment for the rims.

It made choosing the correct size tyres for my wheels a lot easier.
