Corolla 1999 tyre height

Hi all!

i have a corolla 1999 ultima, and all 4 tyres are on the way out. I was given 4 barely used pirelli typres which are 185/70/r14.

The manual book specifies 185/60/r14 or 175/65/r14.

So i am wondering if these tyres with a 5% increase in height will be okay? Will they rub on the car or anything when turning? I think 188/75 would definitly be too much, but 70, maybe fine for driving?

I realise the speedo issue etc. Iv been googling for hours.

Any feedback would be really welcome!

Don't do it. As tempting as it may be to you to save money and use what was given to you, the overall diametre difference is 6% from stock (36.83mm). A change of up to 3% is considered okay and safe. On top of that, it will be considered a defect and can invalidate your insurance.

thanks for your response, i didn't realise that it would void your insurance?

I am thinking ill avoid it - would it actually fit if I were to try? As in, would it rub against the car
