Dash lights wont turn on

I have noticed in the last few days that my dash light has not been turning on when i flick the parkers or headlights on.

Sometimes it will turn on straight away and sometimes i just need to give it some time and it is fine. Would anyone have any idea what the problem is?

I havent done anything to the car lately besides solder a remote wire to my pioneer headunit.

edit: i just remembered that around a month ago i installed a factory foglight stalk as well.

if it comes on intermittently and there's no real pattern to it, or you can't replicate it intentionally, i would say it sounds like a loose electrical connector or contact.

i'd check everything on the stalk is still connected/contacting properly.
