well its burning excess fuel, revving at that rpm if it doesnt need to...... thats why they stuck in the 6th gear....

This is a common misconception about fuel consumption. Its running at 4,000 rpm when you are sitting on 120 but remember your foot is only just touching the throttle, the harder you put your foot down, the more fuel and air mixture the injectors are ordered to squirt, just because its revving at 4,000 does not mean you are burning tons of fuel, revving at 1,000 with your foot flat on the throttle will burn more fuel than just cruising at 4,000.
