1997 2.2l camry lost ignition spark and I am told that this does happen with them due to everything being in the distributor. How do I fix this without buying a reco dizzy at around $380? Plus fitting! Can anybody tell me what the actual problem is?

Might just be points or rotor issue. Take the cap off and inspect the points and rotor, take photos, post them here.

Couldn't be the points. Should be hall effects sensor

Elaborate as to why you believe this.

I have had vehicles come to me with no spark issues and there have been internal breakages in the caps.

I'm about 99.9% sure a 97 model camry. Does not have points. It utilizes a inbuilt ignition just like the ae 92/101/102/111 corolla ( not the gze version)

Sorry, I'm tired, been a big week.I was using the wrong terminology, I was referring to the distributor terminals inside the cap. My bad :whistling:
