OBDII to reprogram ECU?

Hi all,

Can you use the OBDII connector and software to reprogram the ECU to accept new keys?

(I am missing my master key so can't get the car to accept new keys using the "pedal dance" method)

As the name implies, is a diagnostic port. OBDII software can read error codes and live data, but its only a reader. Toyota can use it to change some settings with their IT (intelligent tester), but unless you're keen to throw stacks of money at buying an IT (if you could even buy one at all) you'll have to bit the bullet and go see your dealership. Most dealers don't usually charge to program keys or change settings with the IT anyway.

Yes, there are diagnostic tools that can reset the immobiliser on SOME toyotas, the ones that can't be done via the OBD need the immobiliser box to be removed and either the keys read from that or it reset. This usually cost between $500 - $1000 from aLocksmtih, a lot cheaper than the $2500+ from the dealer.
