Hi All,

My car has been stalling frequently. It happens when im travelling at low speeds with low idle.RACQ says its due to a faulty fuel pump but the mechanic claims that its due to a leaking power steering hose. Is there anyone that can help me with the problem?can a power steering leak lead to stalling?not sure whether Racq or the mechanic is right. Thanks

I have done/repaired many of my friends car problems using the advice of RACQ. For me power steering leak could not make a car stall instead it will make your steer hard especially when the fluid dries up. I would suggest replacing also the fuel filter when you are in the process of replacing the fuel pump.

sound like a vacuum leak to me..

if the car stalls, it should give a diagnostic code.. get your local mechanic to scan for codes. possible fuel or a sensor problem.

Sounds like a vacuum leak, mine does the same because i removed a few vac lines for some idle control stuff... not important though :P
