I have a stock standard 2WD ute in need of a new exhaust, what if any benefits are there in increasing size from 2" to 2.25'?

Happy to pay extra if there are any benefits fro power/economy point of view.

Any other suggestions to boost performance from exhaust system would be welcomed.

From what I know, if youre getting a complete exhaust system it wont do anything, it'd be as fast is it was stock. The only way of improving an exhaust system is to get it dyno'd and reflash your ecu again to suit the new exhaust. But in all honesty, it's not really worth spending big bucks unless you're looking at gaining a few micro seconds faster.
