Updating 15 yo Corolla with Yaris need help with series numbers

Hi Guys,

I am thinking about updating my wife's old Corolla Hatch with a used Yaris.

Forgive me if this has been asked, but I am mistified by the apparent multitude of series/serial numbers.

Can anyone suggest a site that will explain them to me, please.

Late 2005 - 2008 - First Generation Yaris,

2008 - 2011 - First Generation yaris facelift

YR - 1.3l engine (2NZ-FE), base model, 14in steel wheels (NCP90R)

YRS - 1.5l engine (1NZ-FE) , base model + leather steering wheel and gear knob + 15in steel wheels + audio controls on steering wheel (NCP91R)

YRX - 1.5l engine (1NZ-FE), YRS + 15in alloy wheels, bodykit (NCP91R)

all available in 3 or 5 doors and auto or manual

Sedan;

Late 2005 - 2011 First Gen (unsure of facelift year)

YRS - 1.5l engine (1NZ-FE) , base model + leather steering wheel and gear knob + 15in steel wheels + audio controls on steering wheel (NCP93R)

YRX - 1.5l engine (1NZ-FE), YRS + 15in alloy wheels, bodykit (NCP93R)

4 door sedan, available in auto or manual.

I would recommend NOT purchasing the 1.3l it is VERY, VERY slow and only uses a tiny bit less fuel than the 1.5.

The auto isnt great in either, manual is much better.
