Hey guys,

I have a 2007 Toyota Aurion SX6 and lately somethings been bothering me.

My front brake rotors on both sides has this rust outline around the rotor, which is probably the cause of a squeaking sound aswell when I brake lightly.

At first thought this was normal since my brake pads were replaced a couple of months ago but recently I looked at other Aurion's brake rotors and they don't have this orange outline, just a smooth surface.

So I was wondering, is there any problem with my brake pads or rotors?

Just finished washing the car.

looks like your rotors have baked or gotten hot... shouldnt be orange like that

the pads you have put on may be different to the older pads so not covering the whole disk anymore.

This is normal as your brake pads don't make contact here. With the 40 series setup the pad does not contact with the entire braking surface.

If it really bothers you, wire brush the hat and the rusty area then paint it.

^ this. Most brake pads do not contract the entire rotor, and as the discs are made of steel they will rust when exposed to water/air..
