Camry Atara SL 2012 Lights Upgrade

50UNIQ

Recommended Posts

I am looking into upgrading my headlights, fog lights, number plate lights and reverse lights into white, since my car colour is white and Im pretty much sick of the orange/yellowish light look.

What do you guys recommend??

HID's or Standard Phillips white look bulbs?

I want to achieve a clean install and do not want to play around too much with the cables of the car.

Cheers

Hey,

Just wanted to ask if you had any luck replacing the rear number plate lights on the SL.
I have tried so hard and referred to the manual but I just cannot get the bulbs to come out.

Also any suggestions on HID kits and quality park lights and best places to purchase?
I just have baby blue parkies on my right now but haven't had the time to change the main bulbs.
They have started to fade because they are the cheap LED parkies so I thought this time around I would change both.

Thanks!

They're quite easy to replace. There's a thread over at TN (http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/310-7th-generation-2012/403873-interior-led-bulbs-replacement-license-plate-lights-2.html#post3783269) with pictures of how to do this.

HID kits, there's a $55 set on eBay, they seem to last about 3 years give or take depending on usage.

The HID replacement is a pain in the backside for the 2012 for some reason - I did it for 50UNIQ and the bulb kept refusing to twist in correctly.

Also, there's these parkers, which seem interesting: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/PHILIPS-T10-W5W-6000K-XENON-HID-WHITE-ULTINON-LED-PARKER-HSV-FPV-GTR-EVO-STI-/110849608862 - just a bit expensive lol

Hey Guys,

HID's gave me and Fivese7en an awful time changing!! Especially trying to get the bulbs into the stock bulb adapter. Where as for the number plate lights, you'd have to take off the boot lining clips off to replace them with leds.

No probs man... I used a smaller allen key as recommended in the video. I was worried that i was gonna break somethin but it pops out fairly easily. LEDs look so much better.

Just changed my low beam H7 lights last night to Philips Blue Vision! and Changed the Licence Plate Lights to LED Wedges.

Bought the Fog Bulbs as well H11 Blue Vision and haven't had the time to change it as yet. The passenger side low beam bulb was the most difficult to pull out because of its awkward position.

The Licence Plate lights were problematic to remove as well. It wasn't as easy as the video, I ended up doing it the difficult way by removing the boot lining. :/

Next on the purchase list is the interior lighting.

Nice work man. My local Toyota installed my new Phillips fog bulb at my 1000KM service for free hehe... The pins/screws that hold the cover for the front wheel well were annoying - maybe youll have better luck with em

I finally installed my HID fog lights, which took 10 mins to put in! Thanks to the special kit which just plugs in and twists in place!
