Replacing CV / Driveshaft '97 Starlet and workshop manual

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

I have about 97 Starlet (153k) manual which all of a sudden has starting knocking heavily from the front RH CV. This is the first FWD car i have owned, however worked on many other vehicles.

Has anyone removed their front CV's or Driveshaft’s and cares to explain the easiest method?

I have heard usually only the outer CV wears and knocks is this true?

I have been told there is no workshop manual for the starlet, however the starlet shares the same Engine/Gearbox and inner CV's as other model Toyota. Is this true, if so which vehicle and do they have a workshop manual?

If these components are the same it should point to any hidden circlips etc which may cause me hours of grief.

Thanks,
