Problem with front parker lights (2006 model camry)

Hi im new to this forum and this is my first post, im hoping someone can help me out. We own a 2006 model camry altise which is actually my missus car. Recently the front l/h parker light stopped working, i just thought it was a simple globe change. I removed the globe this morning to find the globe was still good, so then with my light tester i checked to see if there was power at the light terminals in the plug, and there wasn`t. I tested further up in the wiring and there was no power in the wire at all. Now the r/h side parker light still works, just not the passenger side. I tried checking all the fuses and i can only find fuses for low beam and high beam headlights, i think there is no fuse for the parkers unless im wrong. Anyone have any ideas as to what the problem may be, i don`t really want to have to strip the wiring loom to try and find it, but i have a hunch that maybe there is a fuse for that side parker light?

I checked out the workshop manual for my Camry(2001 V6) and as far as I can work out there ARE seperate fuses for the left and right side headlights and parkers..The fuseboxes(2 0f them) are located on the passengers side front of the engine bay, 1 large and 1 small, in mine anyway, but they're not hard to find..

The parkers are labelled HL-P. and are 10 amps each. Check all the fuses while your in there.

I don't think your model would be much different.

The headlghts are duplicated as well and when you think about it, it would not be a good idea in the case of a fault to lose all of your lights at once on a dark road.

I hope this is of help

Hi bud thanks for your reply. I have checked those fuses out already in the passenger side engine bay, and HLP fuses are 15 amps as this photo shows on the bottom r/h side. The power only passes through them when A: the headlights are on (low beam) and the other two fuses come on once high beam is activated, so it leads me to think that there arent any fuses still for the parker lamps.

Looks like you may be right i.e. they don't have seperate fuses. I've just looked at an "Official" Toyota Factory Repair Manual(2 Inches thick), not the Haynes one I looked at originally and in the Body Electrictal Section all they have is this:

Only on side light does not light 1.Head-(LH RH) fuse E/G Room J/B No2(This is the Fuse/Relay box you have shown.)

2.Headlight Bulb.

3. Wire Harness.

No Wiring diagrams...

Looks like you have a wiring harness problem. Not what you wanted to hear I bet. Could even be a dicky socket or broken wire somewhere.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

Thanks Martin. Well i did figure it out yesterday. I removed the battery and the main wiring loom was wedged sort of between the bottom of the battery tray and the crossmember, i pulled the loom up out of there and what do you know the parker light comes on again. So yes i believe there may be a break in the wire, or that could be where the join is to get the power from the r/h side parker and either way it may have to get re-done. Pretty simple fix if i just open up the loom and check it out. But for now all is good and its been staying on. If it plays up again i will know what to look for now. cheers

Glad you got it fixed...I'd check that section of the wiring pretty thorouhly while you're at it. Wouldn't want a fire started from a short.

  • 2 weeks later...

Well problem has reappeared again. Problem is the l/h parker light does not come on and even the indicator doesn`t work as its in the same light assemble, but the l/h panel side indicator and rear one is working. The plug has two wires a red wire with grey dots and a brown wire with grey dots, i have tested both wires and there is no power at all. I tried to back track the 2 wires in the loom inside engine bay, and it all goes to main loom which runs under the air filter ducting. I removed this to get to the loom and when i test the wires from there, there still isn`t any power, Its got me a bit stuffed now, as the wires i think go to the computer modules. Does anyone have any ideas?
