2013 Ultima - Rear entertainment system not playing through speakers & not controllable from front console?

Hi all

Just got a new 2013 Ultima with optional rear view camera added

- I found that the rear entertainment system works ok with the supplied wireless headphones but it does not play sound through the car speakers

- have tried switching sound output using the speaker button on the remote control as recommended in the manual but nothing happens

- also the digital panel control panel in the dashboard does not seem to recognise the rear entertainment system - the "disc" option is greyed out and cannot be accessed

- I went back to the dealer who said that he thought that this was normal and that the rear entertainment system could not output sound to the car speakers - but i showed him the manual which says it can

- he said that the manual was not designed for Australia and it may be that it is not legal for the rear entertainment system to output to the speakers in Australia - he recommended that I leave it until the 1 month service check at which stage he would ask the service guys to look into this more for me

- any advice about whats going on and what i should do

- is it ok to wait until the 1 month service check or will i lose some right of legal comeback to get things fixed if I wait that long?

- should it be working as in the manual?

- could the installation of the rear view camera have something to do with it?

Thanks

TM

Hi,

I have also just purchased a Tarago Ultima 2014 and I have been trying to work out how to work the Bluray player and have the same problem as you. I can not seem to get the sound going through to the car speakers even when pressing the speaker button on the remote as advised in the car manual.

I will be going back to Toyota and asking them about this.

I do not have a rear camera installed as yet but that will be happening soon.

Have you worked out what the problem is and managed to get the sound going through the speakers as yet?

I look forward to your reply.

Kind Regards

Frankie

Hi Frankie, I have just taken delivery of my 2014 Tarago Ultima & am having the same issue as you.. {My remote & headphones are still in transit} but I was also under the

impression reading the manual that I could control the DVD player from the front console & have sound through the car speakers also.. I also haven't had a rear camera installed yet either..

Look forward to hearing if you've had any luck!

Regards, Nicole :)

Hi Nicole,

I have had the reverse camera installed, (very surprised that a top of the range model did not come with reverse camera standard, also surprised that the boot is not electric when everything else is electric).

They tested the rear DVD player and could not get sound to go through the car speakers. They think that this is the case from factory. The manual is for Toyota Previa so it may work for overseas model but not here.

If you find out anything different please let me know.

Regards

Frankie

same issue here... just picked up Ultima last Friday, got the remote and headphones yesterday...

can't control on front unit and can't get the sound through car speakers - as per manual said...

now I have to get two more headphones as there are 5 rear seats and only three headphones provided...

Appreciate if any of you have figured out how to get this thing working as per manual...
