INFO: Changing over console panel and lights

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

My console above the ashtray has been broken for years. I've finally sourced a new console to change it all over.

I want to do a light colour change at the same time. I've seen a few change them over on a sportivo but just wondering for a pre face lift ascent is it the same? Anyone done this swap before?

Few questions:

1. What size are the bulbs for the clock/climate control/aircon knobs?

- want to change from green to bluish white

2. Is it better to switch the actual bulbs or just change the colour of the coloured cap?

Hope you guys can help.

Cheers.

Hey C-Rolla,

I swapped my centre dash lights a month ago. Mine is a pre-facelift Levin.

They were just T5 wedge lights. Bought some off ebay for a few dollars which are still working.

The original owner had red little condom things on the top of the original lights, so I bought some green ones and some white ones to see what looked better.
The white were fine, but the green needed to be super bright ones (3 LED's on one wedge) to evenly distribute the colour across all knobs.

Hope that helps.

Awesome mate, thank you.

That really does helps.

You have pics of the changed console lit up?

How many bulbs are there that need to be changed?

Cheers mate - thank you

Thanks for the help mate - going to tackle this on the weekend.

I just want to make sure I order the correct type so for the console, were they normal T5's

or were they specific type i.e. the LED or wide angle?

Thanks for the help.
