Hi everyone,

I own a Toyota Spacia GXi 1994 model. I bought the car second hand of a friend and had no problems so far. Since a couple of month the car engine started back or fail firing in low refs (under 2500 rpm). I was looking for a repair manual online but couldn't find any. Another friend told me it's fuel injected so I could not be the spark plugs, because it doesn't have any? I have to say I don't know much about cars but would like to figure it out myself if it's just a dirty/faulty connection around the engine? I would really appreciate if someone has an idea what could cause this problem? Thank you very much!

Kind regards,

Martin

If you put petrol in it, it has spark plugs. If you put diesel in, it doesn't. Fuel injection is irrelevant in their argument. Do not listen to that friend ever again.

More information is required regarding the fault. A video would be helpful.

Ok, I thought that too but as I said I don't know much about cars. I can't provide a video because it doesn't happen all the time. Just occasionally but here is a photo of the engine. Where do I find the spark plugs? Thx!

You can't see the spark plugs in that picture because they are on the other side of the head. The oil cap (which you can see in the upper-right of the picture) is on the top of the rocker cover, the spark plugs will be behind there. Not the easiest things to get to but that's the problem with a mid-mounted van engine

Hi Guys

Ive has my car at a local mechanic for the past 3 weeks finally decided to go in yesterday and see if he had gotten around to fixing it and basically told me its a computer problem but he can't locate the computer in my 1994 toyota spacia and said he can't do anything till he does. He spent a whole day stripping it down with nothing, so now has sent me to find the location of the computer and get back to him? please help ??

cheers

As far as I can tell it is attached to the B-pillar - not a typical location for an ECU which is why your mechanic probably can't find it
