Hello, I want to upgrade to a RAV4 so I can pick the kids up from school. I'm looking at a 2nd hand 2013 or 2014 RAV4. After searching the net, the 2013 model stands out as having issues with the automatic transmissions becoming damaged and then blowing up. From what I have gleaned from user's accounts, this is due to the ECO mode causing this damage. See link below.

What I want do know: can any one tell me what auto trans is causing the problem ?. CVT or Sports Automatic ?

Why is a RAV 4 the only option? Would a sedan not be sufficient for the school run?

No, it has to be Black with all the safety accessories. Back on topic, do you know the answer to my question above ?. Cheers.
