Engine cuts out after starting occasionally.
Check your fuel lines, especially the ones going in the fuel filter. Twist them see if they move. If so replace the spring clamp with a screw type one solid band. -

Ticking Hilux 5le
Thanks for the replies, I believe it’s the exhaust manifold gasket as I had someone rev it while I listened in the engine bay, noise is only on the exhaust side. Probably doesn’t help that the steering column seal is completely gone so the noise can get in the cab easier too. I’ll change it out and update if it fixes it. -

Engine cuts out after starting occasionally.
Hi, in the last week my 2016 Landcruiser has developed a starting problem. Occasionally it fires up ok but then shuts down after 5 sec of running . It can be restarted if I turn the car off wait and crank it over for 20 sec. Local Toyota dealer found no faults or error codes. Has any one experienced the same issue ? -

Prado 1997 Petrol 6 Cyl GXL - GCM Specification
Hi All, Not surprisingly I have spent a lot of time trying to try and find the specifications for the GCM (Gross Combination Mass) for a Prado 1997 model, 6 cyl petrol vehicle. There was nothing that I could find in the owners manual on either of these and only he GVM on the VIN plate of 2710Kg. I know its pretty old, and wanted to check what size caravan that it could handle. I have found on whichcar.com.au a figure for GCM of 3460Kg (nothing on VIN compliance plate) and GVM of 2710kg (on VIN compliance plate). With a van of 2500kg and GVM of 2710kg it is already 5200kg, so the max van (+ loading) size would be 750kg. This doesn't seem to make much sense and can only wonder if the GCM figure is too low for the 1997 Prado. Be a great help if anybody has any suggestions on what the correct GCM figure is or where else could find it. I tried the Toyota website and didn't have much luck finding any thing for it. Hope some one can help. Thanks, Paul -

60 series diesel engine stutter
G'day, I am having the exact same issue with my 1987 HJ60. I recently bought it and the previous owner replaced the alternator, radiator and aircon 20,000km ago aswell as a new battery upon purchase 1000km ago or about a month. She ran fine for the first month and then an issue identical this began after I ran heater and headlights for prolonged time. Now it happens any time I touch aircon or headlights. Just wondering if you sorted it and what the issue ended up being. Cheers -

RAV4 2017 Apple Carplay Upgrade Recomendation
Hey! I was in a similar situation and ended up getting a 9-inch head unit with wireless CarPlay and Android Auto from Gtzone, this is the link: https://gtzone.com.au/products/toyota-rav4-2013-2018-9-inch-wireless-carplay-android-auto-head-unit-navigation-bluetooth-wifi-head-unit. It works fine with the JBL system, no issues there. If you’re up for a DIY, you can save a few hundred bucks. From my experience, the installation was pretty straightforward—basically plug and play, no wiring job needed. Took me less time than I expected!
