2002 Toyota Corolla ZZE122 Short Shifter

Hello everyone,

I am new to this forum and would like some help in purchasing a short shifter for my corolla. I own a 2002 Toyota Corolla Levin ZZE122. To my knowledge, the only short shifters available for my car are from the US. I am stuck between 2 different shifters, as MWR have a short shifter for 98-02 corolla which is the 8th gen but includes my year, whereas there is also an 03-08 shifter available which is the year bracket for my generation car. I would like to know if I should purchase the shifter for 2002 which is grouped in the previous generation or simply purchase the 03-08 shifter as that is the correct generation for my car. Would even be better if the shifters were just identical.

Go by the generation, not the year.  That way you are more likely to avoid issues where one market got a generation a year earlier or later than another (and also remember that the US uses Model Year, which is usually a year later than Build Date, ie what an American would call an '03 car would have gone on sale in the middle of '02)
