Sat and allllllll day.

Its the ultimate 1ZZ v 2ZZ v 2ZZ rally car (with slicks)

who will win?

And the results are in!! Big surprises here.

the 2ZZ rally car with slicks was very competitive, breaking the lap record for the class twice, only for it to be taken back by the previous holder each time. Went home with a second place trophy, and times of:

1. 52.XX

2. 50.15 (record)

3. 50.45

4. 51.63

5. 50.04 (record)

the 2ZZ started slow, and was soon right on the pace, leading the class going into the final run. Times were

1. 59.27

2. 55.30

3. 54.03

4. 53.88

5. 53.84

The 1ZZ started slow as well and continually got quicker until the very last lap, came from nowhere to record an impressive 53.76!!!! beating the 2ZZ cos Jimmy found some balls!!!

1. 60.3

2. 58.xx

3. 56.xx

4. 55.xx

5. 53.76!!!!

So in the end, Jimmy took home the second place trophy and poor old me had to settle for 3rd only cos the mx-5 i was tussling with all day had a cracker of a last run getting a 53.11 which was extremely quick for the class. The other competitors in the class were a Peugeot of some description, and a 93ish Mazda 323 Astina driven by a young girl who did quite well!!!

So, who's coming next time, 30/9???

Red heads go faster B)

Guys you don't understand how freakin fun that is! Man, you get to go as fast as you want, as hard as you want around corners, make as much noise as you want, and there's a little friendly competition tossed in there too, plus everybody is so nice and they just come up to you, introduce themselves and have a chat about tyres or something... One thing I noticed is that everyone has a Corolla story.

Anyways Micky was beating me consistently all day, then I just knuckled down on my final lap and got lucky. Neither of us could believe it and we went to check the time board right away. The 1ZZ 5-speed gives a real advantage on this type of track because it has torque and power lower down in the rev-range - the 2ZZ didn't have a chance to hit the high cam except on the straight which was a pretty steep slope. I did my work off the start line, my first sector splits were fastest in class just cos of strong torque down low and minimal wheel spin.

Seriously, here's what you need to enter:

-Roadworthy car $You already have one

-CAMS 2S licence $88

-SDMA membership $75

-1kg Fire extinguisher $30

-Blue battery sticker $10

-Helmet $depends how pro you wanna go

Spetember 30, let's do it

does the escort ever drive anywhere? there seems to be a lot of talk about it and not much action.

It's been driven around Canberra for 3 years. It's only just had work finished up in Sydney recently. Probably pick it up when my old man bombs work so he doesn't have to be there all the time.

Hahaha there were some old school sports sedans Rob and they were the greatest, made the best noise and just looked the biz. Yeah Dylan I'd like to see the trailer baby out on the track too! You always have that thing stuck in the back of your mind though with your road car... "I have to drive this to uni/work tomorrow" lol, you already know the feeling I guess.

LOL Rob I was in an exam that night & we all walked out of the hall and the moon was red, everyone was baying at it, it was wicked

The very reason I no longer own a Sportivo... I couldn't bare if anything were to happen to it out on the track and as I got more serious I couldn't take the risk.

Mighty tempting Jimmy!

Sounds like an event worthy of bolting on the stockers. 18's would be a definate disadvantage for me.

Then again, so would the stock Turanza's <_<

Suprisingly Mick once you grind the road-sheen off your tyres after a few hard runs on the hot tarmac the rubber starts to soften up. Our cheap as chips tyres turned into bloody weapons, it was unbelievable. Actually there was a lot of love for Federal tyres, a lot of people were using the 595 RS semi-slick (road legal) in the type SV class, pulling off sub 50 second times in GT-R Skylines and such. Ours are 595 SS and they went quite well for $160 a corner :g:

Rob, if you were to bring the escort, my response would be to bring it.

I honestly dont think (judging by several of the cars we beat) that the escort will be much, if at all quicker.

but its a very good experience for $220
