Hi

I am after designing a 3d printable version of the plastic hinge commonly used on Aussie hiluxes. They are very expensive to buy particularly for me since I live in Ireland and will be paying high shipping and import tax on them. So if you have access to a 3d printer you can download my stl file and print your own. I printed a few in PLA which is apparently not ideal with UV light but they seem to be holding up OK. I havn't bothered with the lower part of the hinge yet as it seems less prone to breakage

Nice work pineapple man. I'd probably take a guess and say that your's although not rated for U.V. will probably last longer than that of the Toyota designed and made. Looks like it broke like a biscuit. So much for quality then hey ??

The original ones don't have much material in them. Maybe 2.5mm thick for the most part and I think made of glass reinforced nylon. I tried to glue/melt the original ones back together before but this didn't work at all.

You should make more and sell them on Ebay mate. I reckon you'll sell plenty.

I'll try it 😄 ordered a spool of PETG which should be a slightly better material for it

Great work mate. You are going to make a lot of Hilux owners very happy indeed. I hope you sell many.

Thanks for the update too.
