A new AV item just added to my collection. :)

garage_mod-2457-1144471681_thumb.jpg

Just bought and installed the JVC KV-M705 today.

Bargained it down to $670 at JB-HiFi @ Penrith.

Nice & easy installation, got stumped at the parking brake wire for a bit, but then I realised I just had to ground it.

Now everything's running nice and smooth. :)

Next step: Clean up all wiring and grounding points when I have time... (Maybe in another year! )

Update:

I lied... Everything's not running nice and smoothly just yet...

The LCD won't display DVD's.. :(

It gives me the "DVD's cannot be viewed while driving" or some crap like that..

I can view the mp3 files on the LCD, but no picture on proper DVD's... :(

Setup: All wires were connected to the already existing loom from the HU (not too professional, but was the easiest way).

Battery > Battery

Ground > Ground

Access. > Remote <- So the LCD turns on automatically, it doesn't if I connect to the Acc.

Parking Brake > Ground

Any ideas?

It shouldn't be a grounding problem.. I don't think.

Coz when I didn't ground the parking brake wire, the 'DVD's cannot be viewed' message came up for mp3 CD's as well...

Thats what the parking brake cable is for ;)

Its meant to do that by design. You need to rewire the parking brake part so that it thinks the parking brake is on all the time.

EDIT: oh i didnt read the last part... hmm maybe it needs to be wired to power? I'm just guessing now...

Yeah, I tried grounding the parking brake cable to bypass the 'vehicle in motion' problem...

Although that didn't seem to work either... :(

I have the same unit in my car, and have had no such problem. I did the same as you, i just grounded the parking brake wire. Have you checked the parking brake wire on the head unit? Both the screen and the headunit have parking brake wires. Hope this helps.

Ahh! That must be it!

Thanks HIROLA. I'll get back to you once I ground that cable as well.. :D

No worries mate anytime, by the way what headunit are you running?

Running a JVC KD-DV6205, the HU and the LCD were made for each other. :)

But I'm planning on ditching this and going for the DV7205, which is basically the same as the one I have now, but with DivX playback. :)
