Hi Folks

I am based just a bit south of Perth in WA and I've been sitting on getting this job done now for a few years. I have a 1981 Diesel Dual Cab slowly deteriorating. Mechanically all is in reasonable shape but the body is sad with lots of rust from plenty of beach work. The problem is in sourcing replacement body panels. This got me to wondering if a complete body transplant might be viable and then the question is how to find out which of the later models will fit down on the original chassis or at least could, with minor modifications??

Any pointers to panels or body matching, Id appreciate hearing from you

Hi Dave, I start with setting up a search in Gumtree, Ebay etc so when one is listed, you receive an alert.

Those early Hilux's are getting pretty rare, especially clean bodied ones, but just keep at it. Eventually one will surface.

Keep us posted. Should be an interesting project.
