Anyone had any success using a code reader to read the codes on one of these? They have an unusual plug in the engine bay (not OBD). I purchased an adapter and tried using my Vident i730AU reader which is supposed to be OBD1 and OBD2 compliant but it would not read the ECU. By bridging the appropriate terminals I was able to read off code 52 (knock sensor) via the flashing check engine light. These are currently on order and should be here shortly along with the small loom, both looked damaged. But would still like to read the codes (etc). Anyone had a win using a reader for this? It is a petrol V6 model 5VZ-FE.

Back before 2008 was not compliant to fit code reader ports so could be something toyota have although the port may have been installed could not be read ,had a 2006 navara that would only be read by obd1 although  the plug was the same as the obd2 plug ,Isuzu have one looks the same but will only take their reader plug ,bit of stuff on google
