Camry Sportivo MCV36 ATF

Hi guys,

I have a Camry 2004 (MCV36) with 1mz-fe engine.

I just checked my tranny stick and the fluid look darker than normal so I was looking for an ATF change but seems like Toyota does not have that tranny fluid anymore.

I am looking for an alternative and I found some on Supercheap which are Penrite ATF DXIII and Penrite ATF MHP.

Which one is more recommended for my Camry and should I change the filter as well?

I looked at the Penrite website and there was no preference given for either option.

I then viewed a few other internet posts about ATF and nothing decisive except that DEX III is a higher viscosity and a potential lifespan of 100K miles i.e. 160,000 Kms.

Finally checked SuperCheap Auto and AutoBarn. DEX III is cheaper and can also be used as a power steering fluid in your vehicle.

The ATF MHP has a Preferred highlight.

In conclusion, my preference would be DEX III based upon price but I would select the ATF MHP if the gear shifts really need to be a lot smoother.
