Hi All,

A roo took out my driver's side mirror yesterday and I need to replace it. I've got an 03 ascent wagon - zze122.

I've found a mirror online, but it's zre122. Do you know if this matters for the mirror? I can't find info about it online.

And, I've got painted backs to my mirrors, but the one I've found is black. I went back and retrieved the parts off the road and the painted back doesn't have any damage to the connections. Is it likely that the black back on the new mirror will just pop off in the same way so I can put my original back on?

Thank you

Great car btw - it's for 310,000km on the clock and has only just started drinking oil, in the last 20,000km. The only off service problems I've had on it have been the headlight lever ($120 to replace) and the rear passenger door auto lock sporadically didn't work (swapped it out with one from a wrecked car I got for free and its going strong). Oh, and had a coin put in the cigarette lighter then my stereo stopped working - replaced the fuse and good as new.

Any idea how long it'll keep on going?

THE BACKS ON MOST TOYOTA MIRRORS JUST CLIP ON SO YOU CAN SWAP THEM. INCREASED OIL CONSUPTION IS NORMAL FOR OLDER ENGINES. YOU CAN BUY OIL DESIGNED FOR HIGH MILAGE ENGINES, THAT WILL SLOW DOWN THE USEAGE, 1ZZ ENGINES USE OIL AFTER A WHILE, BUT IT IS NOT WORTH REPAIRING, IF YOU WANT TO KEEP THE CAR YOU WOULD BE BEST OFF SOURCING A NEWER ENGINE FROM A WRECKER OR ENGINE IMPORTER.

  • Thanks 1
