Too much cold air is it possible???

Recommended Posts

you can run really rich or lean which can indicate your fuel/air mix is screwy or you run the risk of loosing power or bogging down in certain rev ranges because your intake is too big...but i hvent heard anything from any of the intakes on offer having this problem so stick with there designs.. hope that helps

What is the ID of the piping that you are using?

You need it just right, too small = restriction and i think too big = improper a/f ratio

I am by no means correct, but hopefully I'm not too wrong. Also when i installed my CAI (shift performance), I lost approximately 120km/tank....

I mean maybe its my driving because of all the excitment, but its been a consistent 320km/tank for a month. Put my stock air box back in at the moment, cause i need the car repaired under insurance.

Cheers

The pipe diameter at the MAF effects the engine more than the intake air temp.

The ECU reads from the intake air temp sensor located on the MAF and adjusts the maps accordingly. You are never going to get the intake air cold enough to cause a drop in performance in Australia.

If the pipe diameter is too large and an airflow straightener is not used, then you are likely to have issues.

For the 3" pipes, the celica guys have used airflow straighteners like this:
