Corrolla on the Race Track

Hi guys,

I'm a newbie in this forum, to be honest I own an integra but I've owned a celica before, however me and two other mates are thinking of buying a Corrolla 4AGE to drive around the tracks since they are selling pretty cheap these days...... but I've got a couple of questions

Does the 1986 fuel injected twin cam corrolla carry the 4AGE 100 KW engines? Is it the same engine as the 90+ corolla GTI/SX ? The engine looks very similar .... they are both 1600CC and 16 Valve and twin cam... do they have the same output? How is the reliability on these engines? Does any one knows what are the rough typical costs of rebuilding an old and tired 4AGE?

Hi,

The AE8x series corolla had generally had the 86kw bigport tvis 4age (also known as the blue top due to the blue writing on the cam covers) although there are some very late model ae8x's twinkys that did have a version of the 100kw smallport 4age ( red cam cover writing). For info on costing of rebuilds ect i suggest you take a look over at www.twincam.org as there is a wealth of 4Age knowledge over there. :)
