  1. is it the plenum design thats no good? to large a area? or cause it has no runners? cause the the stock 20valve has no runners and has similier plenum design but more boxed shape
  2. at the end of the day its an economy motor, found this prity cool, itbs, turbocharger and nos. looking over a few forums, guy over on zz-series.com is trying this, also seen aza over there....
  3. the thing thats got me worried is why no one has tried this before, there must be a reason why. either its a stupid idea or its to hard to get right.....i dont mind investing the time and money into this as long i know i have a chance of making this work rollamods seems to think so
  4. few things i found on the net this morning plenums are $770 for trumpet style and $750 for normal type, quads are $400 i think. i can tell this going to be a massive headacke cant beleave im doing this, i could have a sti sitting in my drive way
  5. me and a friend would be doing all the fabrication work including the pedel box...well mostly my mate ill be handing him tools...that leaves tuning and electrical cause we dont have a clue bout that side of things. now that i know it will work(if it doesnt im pinning this all on u rollamods, just wondering why no one has tried this before? not possible?) guess 1st things 1st research time
  6. standalone/tuning, converting to wire throttle, quads, plenum, possible fuel system upgrade? thought it would be round the 5k mark. still wont throw out the idea of just upsizeing single throttle body
  7. i remember that thread i started the itb question...... well looks like its on, itbs, standalone, custom plenum coming in the new year as long as the cost doesnt get out of hand.....
  8. if what aza51 said is true bout the itbs on the 1zz id be willing to stretch my budget to a motec, what about the option of putting a 2zz manifold on the 1zz will the dbw mate to it? or even the celica dbw rollamods mentioned. edit: just had a look at the thread [tuning a 2zz...it has potential] i think im in over my head with the itbs, although the 1zz doesnt have that much tilt on it

  11. ive been in plenty of cars with kings in them over the years, cant fault them. they do what they are asked of and that is lower your car not much else....
  12. ive been reading i cant piggyback a dbw only a stand alone will do the job,and i dont want the hastle of converting to cable. eather way ill be upgrading the ecu, if i was to to change to cable might as well go for quads as the ecu will already be in place. the inlet thats on there now is 63mm prity sure, upgrading to some thing like 70mm or even 76mm is this overkill? all i really want to do to the moter is port, a custom plenum and cam upgrade, i want to keep it n/a is 110kw at the weels unrealistic? i now this is alot of money to spend for very little gain

  15. want to ask a question i want to upgrade my throttle body and plenum, the plenum will be custom the throttle body on the other hand is electronic so what are my options with it?

  18. have any zre owners actually popped there bonnets and had a look around, a option might be to have a custom intake done not hard any good performance workshop will make short work of this. beats waiting round for bolt ons, just an idea
  19. nice look on your engine cover, are u useing plastic safe paint or a plastic primer before painting cause it might peel off over time, also use fine line tape when masking so u dont get a edge
  20. thx, doesent have to be removed but makes it easier, even if u have to remove only takes bout 10mins catch tank remove battery slides out. allso added rubber to the top of the sheild this morning to completelly seal it off from the rest of the bay

  22. you know i think there are a lot of corolla's out there that would eat your rx for brearfast like mine for instance on 16yr old stock sx rolla suspension i did a 2.09 lap around easter creek race way n open centre diff and 3 previous runs experience i did a 13.7 @ 104.7 mph down the 1/4 no fast corolla's peh The FD was one of the most balanced cars in terms of handling, let alone straight line speed to ever come out of Japan. I already know I'll out handle, and out run you in a straight line by the figures you gave. If your name was Keiichi Tsuchiya, and it was a downhill Touge, then I might be worried would die for sure. all i can say is there are some die hard corolla owners on this forum, i can bet my life that if i said a porsche gt2 is better than a stivo id get ripped up im pretty confident i can take ur FD and match ur porsche :P :P :P :P Both of these guys learnt a lesson the other day ;) ;) ;) xoom u have a great car and i respect it but u missed my point, your car will never be a rx7 or a porsche and will never come close to matching there base potential. im not out to offend u personaly but theres a mentality that goes around corolla owners who think corollas are sports cars, but in fact they cant compete head to head with japans best there just not desined for it. once again no offence to u xoom many respects
