  1. Also and aswell as, due to the rubber washer that you have installed you can tighten the cradle a bit more. I have used a 39Nm torque setting on the bolts and all is good.

Use this tension setting at your own risk

I will not be blamed for cracking the cradle or any damage incured due to over tightening or NOT using a torque wrench.

  2. if you get the trd cai  from what i have heard be careful with the installation because you could have problems later on.

The only issues you may have is if you tighten the clamps on the elbow too tight, due to the amount of engine movement that occurs in lift.

As with any metal on rubber fitting...tighten it up taught...then turn back 1/4 turn ;)

  3. I have had my TRD quick shifter installed for a while now.

Initially when it was installed it felt nice, but a little noisey as the orignal rubber bushes which are used to bolt through the cradle are removed for brass fittings with the cradle bolsing straight onto the tunnel.

I found that if you cut top the rubber bushes off with a stanley knife and place the new rubber rings underneath the cradle and then the brass bush ontop with the bolt going through the brass and rubber. That it makes the changing quieter without loosing any of the stiffness in the cradle, and retaining the nice firm feel. B)

  4. Got the car back today. Yep i happy with what they have done. Still a tad hard to shift when in lift but a big improvement on not being able to shift at all. I think..no..i am in love wih my stivy wivo again

Guys get it done. There is no excuse now for shifting troubles.

    Cheers

Glad to hear Mike ;) another person who has yet again falllen in love again with their stivo.

Apart from myself and Zee has anyone else had to go back a couple of times to get this issue fixed by something other than the technical notice ??

Also on a side note has anyone else here got a Short shifter installed ???

  5. basically if you increase the diameter of pipe from the cat back (our cat is good) and then use a good muffler you should get some gains.

if you just want to do the muffler then go the dtm magnaflow muffler like shao's

These are the only 2 ways that I have sen increased power output from the exhaust alsone.

  6. For ease of install I would look at the Sportivo peddles (if they fit on the ascent)

But at $120 a set?????? its a bit steep

Personally I went for the "Sparco' option. They cost $85 AUD but the install was alot more involved than the sportivo option.

As the stock peddle on the accelerator is too norrow and made of plastic. So the arm had to be modified with a new metal plate moulded to the shape of the peddle and then welded onto the arm.

Also the clutch plate had to be modified slightly.

But agin this is a personal thing :D

P.S check out my garage for the pics ;)

  7. Dark rims are the way too go Craig! I'm going to try and "panda" my car with  various black bits around. But then again, I'll prolly only get to it when the finances show to be a little better.

Btw, your rear suspension seems to be sitting really high, were you parked on an uneven surface or something?

Yeah but i got told my car was looking too much like influx's yesterday.....cant have that now ;)

yeah i got a lift kit for the rolla ;) 2 inch lift so i can take speed bumps at 100K's now ;)

na it looks that way cause of the gradient of the driveway i think;)

Runx - those rims look nice B)

    1zz - you need a rear skirt ;)

  8. Hi all,

i've have a 2004 corolla sportivo.  i am thinking of getting suspension mods done in stages.

    stage1 - swaybars

    stage2 - strut tower brace

    stage3 - coil springs/shocks

    Whilteline recommended the following:

    Qty.  Code    Description

    1 BTR77      Heavy duty swaybar-rr

    1 BTF72      Heavy duty swaybar-rr

    2 K862589SPORT      Koni Shock Absorber

    2 K86101365SPORT    Koni Shock Absorber

    1 KSB603          Strut tower brace

    1 KCA415    Camber adj bolt kit-15mm

    1 73206      WL h/duty coil spring - pair

    1 73205      WL h/duty coil spring - pair

my sportivo is 100% street driven, no track work intended.  i just want to lower the car and reduce the body roll.

    need your opinions:

+ does the strut tower brace do much for the sportivo?

+ i intend to use the existing stock 16" rims and wheels 195/55R16 87V, so are the koni shocks adequate?

+ can i run 205/50R16 87V on the stock RIMS?

+ for those who have kept stock rims, and lowered their suspension, what is the driver's view like? e.g. sportivo's odd seating position.

    thanks in advance

memebr # 1oo????? you havetn posted in a while !!!!

    welcome back anyway ;)

i got quoted totally different number to you...i will post when i get back to work tomorrow morn ;(

  9. Browsing the Garage section and the forums, I can't help but notice that the bulk of TOC Australia seem to drive Corollas.

Just by the forum posts alone the Corolla section is almost at 1000 posts, whereas most of the others are struggling to hit double figures.

Being a TOC UK member myself I was just wondering if this was an accurate representation of the Toyotas in Australia. Are the other models scarce in comparison, or are the owners just too shy to post??

    Rich

There are alot of other models. i.e cmary etc

I'm not sure why alot of other models drivers dont post here. If you look even deeper the majority of corolla posters are also Sportivo owners ;)
