  1. so i got my car retuned on a different dyno glad i did car feels like it makes more hp its smoother and it revs over 7500rpm but heres the catch on original dyno tune it made 252fwhp on new dyno it only made 211.9 fwhp but it feels so much quicker why do dynos have to be so inconsistent the tuner guy did state that he has had cars that have made over 280 hp only make 220 hp on his dyno with out touching tune at all maybe i should have got him to check before retuning any way its a whole different monster now and i love it still have to take it to wsid to get some real figures xoom your the bench mark im out to beat
  2. it an issue all of the larger toyota's with electronic steer assist are having mostly rav4
  3. welcom but you should know that celicas are just over priced corollas with independant rear suspension and 2 less doors(unless your comparing to ae series rolla's which all have independant rear suspension but still 2 more doors) wat can i say i love rolla's especial when they out do v8's down the 1/4mile :D
  4. deisel all the way i get 9l/100km adverage consumption out of my hilux its never gone over 10l/100km good luck trying to get any where near that out of a petrol ute (utes arnt designed to be efficent as they are designed to hual loads so the gearing is lower so they rev higher at free way speeds) so as deisels are an efficent motor it makes up for the unefficent ute gearing i have a friend with a hilux same as mine only in the v6 and he was like bullsh## when i told him my fuel comsumption his adverage consumption is over 13l/100km and another thing about diesel is its cheaper the petrol atm so all +'s for the deisel
  5. as long as you can keep the helium in the tyre for your unsprung weight will be lower there for your car will handle better
  6. 17x7 215/45 rubber apec racing
  7. like the car/colour dont like that rear wing but you should have baught my sx wing off me they suit the car to a T
  8. congates mate pretty scary though goin from alost no debt to over 300000 like that at the moment we're shopin around for furniture fridge and other kitchen stuff
  9. vvti never really kicks in coz its never off its constantly working to give you best power delivery for your driving style what your experiancing is more then likely the point were the cam makes optimal power like wat piro said how al that works is pretty complex but it has to do with over lap (both exhaust and inlet open together) duration (how long inlet and exhaust valve stay open) and lift (how much the valve opens) when you design a road car the cam is normally very conservative with power and lil torquer the a perfomance car with peak power figures around 3-4000rpm wen comparing peak power figures to performance (n/a) cars like the stivo rolla honda type r etc which is around the 7-8000 rpm range then comparing to turbo cars which have such a broad powerr and torque curve its almost linear making power and torque from as low as 2500rpm through to 5000 even 7000 rpm on performance turbo engines
  10. yes different to the normal topics you'll get out of me but any way so me and my girlfriend of 4yrs are taking the plung and buying a house ok so its not a big house has 3 bedrooms new kitchen and bath rooms decent size block of land and its across the road from the imfamous lake illawarra located at oak flates nice area but heres the best part the 1 thing that sold the house 4+ CAR GARAGE
  11. got them down to 6 mins thats from start to finish car in work shop recall done story writen car back to customer as for the hilux recall never done 1 never want to saydo you guys remember the steering relay rod recall the earlier model hilux/4runner had man i can remember doin like 5 of them a day for months
  12. -No. -You don't need one. If anything, upgrade your earth wires running from your battery - 2 gauge to the engine block and 0 gauge to the chassis. -You should connect it from the main power feed -It will keep charging as long as it's connected to power - once it's not, it will VERY slowly discharge, which brings me to your next point. -You need to hook up a BIG power-rated resistor between the terminals (I'd go at least 20W and as many ohms as you can find in that size). -Won't really make an iota of difference. Your system doesn't require a cap, it will actually lower power going to your amps if anything. You've already got a good battery and decent sized power cable, if you must do anything else put a bigger alternator in. I don't suggest anybody who doesn't know what they're doing discharge a fully charged cap, it's not fun getting a huge shock. not entirely true i had a capacitor and it does stop the lights from diming at night it takes some load of the alternator as for the other stuff im unsure so yeah only 1 thing that i know a capacitor does
  13. your wrong about 2 things here 1. 5sfe t-belt replacement 150000km 2. not auto ajusting only v6's v8's and newer deisels in toyota have auto adjusting tensioners (you can readjust belt but you have to losen bolt) the spring on the tensioner is only there to keep tension on bolt so you can check its right before you set it and reassemble
  14. its a terrible idea to put all service manuals on disc i hate it the books are so much better to find specs wen you have to build a motor trans or even find min thinkness on brake rotors (if its not on the disc that is)
  15. so wats gona happen is it a posibility like i said earlier i dont care wat we do weather its track strip dyno wat ever but lets get something organised
  16. being a mechanic for 6-7 yrs ive driven a few cars trucks even machines (i worked for a construction company and westrac but yeah ive work at toyota and ford dealer ships so wat ever used cars come in and all toyota and fords fastest car ever driven probably mine slowest&biggest ever driven was a 30t crusher via remote nicest probably 200series L/C with all the opions
  17. thats fair enough yeah apart from the engine though there pretty much the same truck pet or desiel first thing id be doin if i was looking o buy 1 is a full service wheel bearing front and rear axle seals pos even a front turn knuckle seal kit thats a big job but if you get it over and done with wen/if you purchase the car you wont get court out and if you do it they wont leak for like 150-200 00km 1 more thing to check for on the petrol is the valve stem seals if its the 4.5 inline 6 just hope they dont start it prior to you lookin at it start it up let it idle and look for smoke from exhaust if there is u'll be looking at 1500-2500 to fix
  18. 1 the gf took with her super dooper camera
  19. just got front grill so car looks even more stock also some pics
  20. the body and engine are based on the lexus gs 350 but the lexus is rwd (that sucks) if you look at the dimentions theres only mm differences between the 2

  22. think of it as a pre face lift ae112 well actually thats exactly wat it is in aust we never got an ae111
  23. you dont wanna buy a petrol trust me desiel in 4x4 is a much better option for so many reasons 2 i can think of straigh away 1 fuel consumption 2 engine life (desiels just last longer)
  24. And how often to people go to dyno days or the drags? And if they're not trying their hardest on the track, then they're also not likely to be the ones to push the car to the limit on the 1/4 either. And how many people follow "recommendations"? Whilst 15 or 20 minute stints will minimise wear to an extent, it's still significantly more than drags or dynos will ever do. All it takes is one wrong move, one inexperienced driver (and face it, most drivers are inexperienced when it comes to track days, even if it's not their first time) to punt a car into a wall. The amount of ****ers out there on the road is proof enough that most people don't know how to control their car well, yet are over-confident in their abilities. actually 1/4 mile runs are the hardest thing you can put a driveline through ather then towing and i know so many poeple that agree with me as in almost every 1 who has done both with drifting being the the hardest form of racing on a car as the engine is always at red line always side ways always either free reving as it has enough power to break traction easy or loaded up as it doesnt quite have enough power like i said i also know my racing i also have a good understanding of how a car works hiro
  25. ive now done 3 recall on yaris 10 mins on both 3& 5 door found that rear seats dont have to be removed if you undo seat belt anchor point you can pull trim out enough to get to the foam this recall was sent out as the foam in worst case scenario can cause a fire wen pre tensioner goes off (pretensioner is explosive device to rapidly tighten seat belt in event of accident)
