  1. Check with the dealer if you can take delivery in Qld at no charge. They might agree if it means losing a sale.

Also there are no rated recovery points on the Kluger if you get stuck. I investigated fitting some, and basically would've had to get them engineered, fabricated and fitted specifically for the kluger.
  3. What gets me is that I went from the standard Toyota oil to the ultra expensive $90/6L Mobil 1 oil, which should have imporoved power and economy rather than made it worse.
  4. I'd say you got a great one from the lucky dip :) Notice mine's been feeling a little sluggish and using more fuel since the last service when I changed to Mobil 1 Super Syn 0W-40. I woulsn't think the oil would be the reason for the change.
  5. 75kg load rating according to the toyota site http://www.toyota.com.au/kluger/accessorie...selectedImage=5
  6. Have a look at the following links. I'm yet to try either of the methods as I haven't had the time to get around to it: http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/showthread.php?t=302140 http://www.meguiarsonline.com/forums/showthread.php?t=37655
  7. Had a dash rattle looked at and fixed by Toyota yesterday. Although the noise was coming from the dash, it was actually caused by a faulty door seal, which they lubricated to fix the problem. The vibration was being transmitted from the door through the chasis ending up at the dash.
  8. New modified arm rest has been fitted to the drivers side. It is a lot sturdier than the previous ones that were fitted. Plastic fatigue was cited as the issue on the job sheet. Unfortunately they only did the one.
  9. Response from the dealer was as expected. The finish is due to Toyota's current process and it will be present to some degree on all vehicles, an can be advantageous as it hides scratches better. Compared it against other cars in the lot, some of which were a lot worse. Also as my car is silver it is not as noticeable when compared to black or merlot. They do not consider it a defect in my case. However, they did say if I owned a black or merlot vehicle with orange peel that was noticeable then they may consider doing something about it, but it is on a case-by-case basis. Guess I'll just have to give up my dreams for a mirror like finish.
  10. I'm only speculating here as I have no real knowledge on the issue, but it is my understanding that airbag systems adjust their deployment parameters depending on whether the occupant is wearing a seat belt. I believe this was the manufacturers' response to avoid being sued in the US market where a large portion of people don't wear seat belts. The kluger could be configured the same, given it is sold into the US. If this was the case then I'd think it may potentially be unwise to trick the ECU into thinking the seat belt is engaged. As I stated at the start I'm only speculating, and just throwing it out there for someone who knows a bit more to respond to. Maybe to solve the problem you could find the speaker that produces the alarm and disconnect it, or fit it with a disable switch?
  11. Try http://www.ehow.com/how_4906071_disable-se...toyota-suv.html although I don't know if it works on the Kluger.
  12. Color X is a cleaner wax. It contains both a polish and a wax and is meant to be a one step product. It really depends on what you are trying to achieve.
  13. My Kluger was a demo and to add to what Dave said, you pretty much have to accept the condition it's in. Mine had a few small stone chips and the dealer swirl option, but overall it was less than a new model. In hind sight I probably could have negotiated a better deal and didn't save as much as I should. You also need to remember that the warranty will start from when the dealer registered the car, not from when you drive it out the door.
  14. Check out the thread KX-S or Grande, which things can be done aftermarket? which contains a discussion on aftermarket accessories. Read through the Kluger Price thread to see what is reasonable. When you pick up your car be tough with the dealer on any defect, no mater how minor. Do not accept that they will fix it later. Be firm and say you will only pick it up when it is fixed. Remember you have all the power until you hand over the money. Also, dealers often do the hand over inside in a dark area. Insist on the car being taken outside or into a well lit area where you can examine it. If you do a google search yu should be ablle to find info on what to look out for. There seem to be a lot of the same questions being asked, maybe it's time to start pinning some of the relevant threads so they apear at the start of the forum.
  15. Upon closer inspection I discovered that the paint finish on my Kluger has orange peel everywhere. Does anyone have the same problem as I'd like to know how widespread it is? You need to have a clean surface and get up really close to see it. Has anyone ever tried to get it addressed under warranty?

  18. I think I'm paying around the $800 mark for RACQ. I plan to switch to QBE next renewal as they offer 4 year new car replacement for a write off compared with 2 for RACQ and my vehicle will be getting near that age next year. The thing to remember about comparing insurance is there are a lot of factors that influence your rate such as garaging suburb, if you park on the street or a secured location, driving history, etc.
  19. Just had my car serviced a little over two weeks ago and changed the oil to Mobil 1 Super Syn 0W-40. My fuel comsumption has gone from averaging 11-12L/100km to 12-13L/100km. Everything else such as driving style, fuel and tyres haven't changed. I was expecting the fuel consumption to improve, but the opposite has happened.

    Driving Lights

Anyone had any experience with IPF lights? They have a ball and socket mount which I would prefer over the double bolt configuration of the others.
  21. Never experienced the wheel shudder before in the Kluger.
  22. I haven't had the issue with the central locking as you've described, but have noticed the same phenomenon you mentioned with the LED on the TomTom. It occurred when I had a rechargeable device plugged into the auxiliary socket and turned the ignition key to off. I came to the same conclusion as you, that the device must output a residual current into the circuit. The FOB does lock/unlock the doors when the key is in the ignition (or at least mine does anayway).
  23. Welcome to TOCAU For run in procedure check out post #13 in Rice Racing's excellent and informative thread. Fuel consumption and strategies to reduce it have been discussed recently in this thread. At the bottom left of the main forum screen there is a search function wich allows you to run a keyword search in the forum you are currently viewing. This is the most valuable fuction of the forum as you'll find most questions have already been asked and answered.
