  1. I see the dimensions are given in cm as 6.35 (H) x 36.83 (W) x 31.75 (D), which I assume is in the collapsed position. I'd cut up a piece of card board to the rough size of the W & D dimensions, stick it in the down position on your roof, then jump in the drivers seat and have a look through the rear view mirror to see if the obstruction of view is acceptable.
  2. wouldnt that be the case with any aftermarket 19" rim for the kluger ? as even a variation of .5" in rim width from an aftermarket rim cant bring out that much extra choice in tread.....do they require an odd load rating at wierd profile to fit the 19" and remain in check rolling diameter and speedo wise ? Tyre issues have been well documented. See following threads: Alternative 19" tyres for KX-S and Grande Kluger replacement rubber for Kluger 19 inch wheels Basically they seem to have a profile which only gives limited options. The Kluger 19" tyres require a 245/55R19 tyre of which there are only two available in Australia.
  3. Just be aware with the 19" Grande wheels you'll have a limited choice from only two very expensive replacement tyres.
  4. Also http://www.unece.org/trans/main/wp29/wp29regs/r101r2e.pdf (around page 48) and http://www.unece.org/trans/main/wp29/wp29regs/r084_1e.pdf (starts around page 23) which are the specifications for the test The testing is done windows up with no airconditioning or heating operating, and interestingly the fuel consumption is actually calculated based on the measured emissions of hydrocarbons, cabon dioxide and carbon monoxide, rather than a direct measurement of the fuel used.
  5. Plenty of threads already discussing this: 03 Kluger grande tyre pressure, optimum tyre pressure Excessive wear front outside tires FASTER THAN R50 V10 TWIN TURBO VW TOE RAG!!! (AWD KX-S Kluger) tyre wear The ultimate guide for rims & tyres Questions
  6. I have an oil change coming up and the cheapest price I can find Mobil 1 0W-40 here in Brisbane is around $92 fo 6L at Repco, Autobar, etc. Anyone able to advise if there is anywhere cheaper in Brisbane?
  7. Getting back into peak hour traffic recently, I've actually found my fuel economy has improved when in slow moving, stop/start traffic, compared to situations where I have a free run and need to stop at every red traffic light. Sitting constantly between 20-40kph compared with accelerating to 60kph then having to slow down to 0kph again at the lights.
  8. I find white looks too corporate.
  9. I'd be interested to know whether the unit and GPS software will accept RDS-TMC data. Also given the introduction of digital radio, how easy it will be to upgrade the unit in the future.
  10. I've been using 4x4 More but have had a few small dramas with them the last two times my car has been in. Nothing major, just work not finished off properly, such as panels left in foot well or trim not pushed home. Also had some wheel alignments done at the same time, and tires are still showing unven wear to one edge. Makes me wonder about the overall quality of their work. I did give Ultratune a call but their pricing is higher than what I can obtained through the Toyota fixed price service. Is it worthwhile getting the wheel alignment done elsewhere at a tyre centre?
  11. I like how it can integrate TPMS data. $600 delivered is a lot better than the $1099 shown on ebay.
  12. Any recommendations on good places to have a Kluger serviced in Brisbane? I'm a bit fed up with the dealer service where I purchased the car and want to look elsewhere. Preference is for Southside in the Mooroka area or Northside near Eagle Farm/Hamilton. Also, is there any particular Toyota dealer which is better for warranty claims than another? I'm having trouble with my original dealer.

  14. Welcome to the club :) Black looks great when clean, but you're right, it is so much hard work.
  15. Not according to Rice Racing, the blue ones seem to be the fastest :P
  16. Silver because it hides scratches, swirls and dirt well. AWD for extra traction when I go onto construction sites. I do think the graphite and merlot klugers look amazing when detailed well (Holmesie is a prime example).
  17. Their bluetooth phone system is different to the one in the KX-S.

A TRD supercharged Kluger and Turbo-diesel version would round out the range nicely B)
  19. Your new born will be in a baby capsule, which will need to go in one of the mid-row passenger seats, meaning an adult will need to sit in the back row. If you're other child is 4 and still requires a car/booster seat they will need to sit in the mid row too, putting both adults in the back. Probably alright for around town but not long holiday drives with the kluger.
  20. Filled up the car last night with around 4km left on the trip computer and the needle just above empty. It took around 58 litres before the bowser shut off. I never top off the fuel tank, so it probably would have taken 1-2 litres more.
  21. Could have a look at the Aupacks units (http://members.optusnet.com.au/auspacks/) but I don't think they do a Kluger version (only Camry). How do you get the updated safety cameras and maps into the unit you're looking at? At least the new in-dash units being released are starting to catch up to the features the portables have. The Eclipse AVN7262EA has TMC, speed and safety camera alerts. I'm almost tempted to finally retire my trusty old TomTom and go for one of these (almost :D)
  22. Where do the hazard light button and indicator lights go, as the two large dial knobs will take up their positions on the KX-S dash? Also have a look at the following threads over on the Toyota Nation forum: OEM Navigation <-- For those who did not buy the option but want it For Those Who Want Factory Looking Navigation System
  23. I've found the low fuel light comes on with about 20-30km left according to the trip computer. I haven't pushed the boundaries too far yet to see how much extra beyond zero I can go. Have a look at the last page of the Fuel consumption survey thread which gives other peoples experiences.
  24. Traffic info is available as an option for most portables now. It is a relatively expensive accessory with most selling for $150-$200, but can be bought cheaper on ebay from Europe (The one for my TomTom cost $60 by comparison). The coverage is only Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane, Gold Coast, Adelaide and Perth metropolitan areas at the moment. I've found in Brisbane that it generally only covers the motorway system and some of the major roads that fall under State rather than Local Government as far as congestion is concerned. It also can have quite a lag (ie sitting still in traffic while the GPS is showing all clear), and then there are some major roads that never have any information. It does display accidents on minor roads, road closures and traffic light malfunctions. I've been using it for 12 months now and it has improved considerably in that time. It is not up to the standard that is available in Europe, but hooefully it will improve. If you can find a cheap antenna on ebay, and you live in one of the areas covered then it is probably worth it.
  25. I've just applied Meguiar's Gold Class Trim Detailer. The trim cleaned up ok, but having only just applied it I can't comment on its longevity.
