  2. This is also exactly the same as the Kluger. Pin 6 is connected to ground if using the SWI-JACK, so no functionality is lost. It also seems a bit odd to me that Toyota would use CAN only in Australia for the steering wheel buttons. I have not seen a reference to it being used anywhere else. Unless anyone has the wiring diagrams to prove otherwise, you should assume that the Arion is using a resistor network connected directly to the HU like other Toyotas. As the Aurion circuit is probably the same as the Kluger circuit, if anyone wants to send me the wiring diagrams, I will post the circuit for the modification; I should only need to change connector names and remove company logos/details, so it won't take me long. This is an offer for a limited time. If everyone keeps posting reasons why it can't be done, I probably won't care either. If thats the case, you can always ask me to do it through my business some time in the future, but I don't know if you guys would like my hourly rates. Mikey, will call toyota for diagram after EASTER,hopefully they can just e-mail it to me or i will call into a dealer and p/up one, will try and get it to you ASAP. thanks for your advise and offer of help, very much appreciated :D
  3. im glad it wasnt a fatal, the driver if drunk should be dealt with harshly, anyway i wonder if theres anything left to salvage off the wreck? not many broken Aurions around to pinch parts off.
  4. Great info guys,im waiting for a set of DBA4000 slotted rotors frt & rear, fronts available now rears due out of production(so ive been told)next week in SYDNEY and was only thinking i heard somewhere before try and bed them in seperatley, but this completly slipped my mind until i read this now, i can just fit the rotors 1st with old pads and then throw the new pads on later, how long does it take on average before the rotors are bed in so i can fit new pads? thanks.
  5. dud rwc?! damn... i was hoping going to a proper toyota dealer i would not run into such risks... gona be losing sleep over this... how would i ever find out if they sold me a dodgy car? last thing i need is try to sell my car few years down the track to only find out its not road worthy at all. its only over 2 years old... but you can never be too sure? what a bummer,ya can always pay i think its around $75-$80 and get ya own roadworthy done, just need to find an established workshop(that does RWC) and tell him ya drama and he might find out whats been done or not done to pass roadworthy,i would only do this if they(your dealer) is not willing to fix these under wty.you do have options so dont lose to much sleep, as it was stated before you must have a RWC to sell a registerd vehicle so the seller & workshop that performed RWC are liable.anyway good luck with it all.
  6. I have already looked at the wiring diagrams for the Aurion and even done measurements both voltage and logic (TTL/CMOS). The display button requires a digital circuit to process it's command and it is not as simple as just connecting wires. There is no guarantee as well than some aftermarket solution will be compatible with the digital signals required. I don't make assumptions. When it comes to things like this, I prefer to DIY. Unless you are good with reverse engineering the PCB in the stock stereo, then looking at the wiring diagram for the Aurion isn't going to help in this scenario. And that's the conclusion I came to. The controls on the Aurion do use the CAN bus and it is something that I am not willing to spend time on trying to decipher. Hey Random,my installer mate was banging on about CAN bus electrical system in the Aurion, but i have limited knowledge on this, can you dumb it down(main difference to other electrical systems) for me so maybe ive got some understanding. thanks CAN bus communication is twisted pair digital communication. Just think of it as a LAN within your car communicating with various ECU's. now thats dumbed down, thanks mate your a wealth of knowledge.

Hey thanks man,i will pass this information on(installer),im sure if it could be done(without a reverse engineering degree) someone on this forum including your capable self would have worked it out by now. :( :( :( :( :( :( :(
  8. I am 99% sure it's CAN, so wiring will be of no use to you. 9. if its still under warranty go see a dealer, they should fix em or replace em. Yeah it still is... will bring it back then. Btw, i'm expecting them to repair something on my car doors since its still under warranty... what are the chances of them backing out and saying they cannot do anything about it and if that happens (knowing how dodgy some second hand car sales people are) what are my options? if the inside of tailaights are damp its normally a sealing(outer casing or globe socket)problem or you might find a small crack if ya look real hard other than that they should be sealed and water tight, i would play dumb to the dealer and hope all gets fixed or replaced, worst case try and find them at the wreckers or even better BRAND NEW, hmmm gotta love new lights so bright and shiny.anyway good luck with it all :D
  10. if its still under warranty go see a dealer, they should fix em or replace em.
  11. very clean & tidy, needs to be lowered when wheels & tyres are fitted to give it a good stance. B)
  12. if its up around 90mm-100mm then i have no problems.thanks akuma :D
  13. Mikey,we havent given up yet, we are exploring a lot of different avenues, the only problem is im a clutz when it comes to electronics so its all on my installer and ya right if he say NO i cant do it, then i will find someone else or wait until someone works it out not a huge drama, ive learnt to be paitent with the Aurion on mods so this is no different. ;)
  14. That's not mesh, that's sheet with a couple of holes in it....:P LOL thats funny, looks like my old shadow board for my tools in the shed.that mesh ya looking for looks like the beer spill trays under the taps at a pub,or try plumbing supplies maybe some sort of drain mesh?
  15. get a price 1st, should be enough to scare ya,if you do get em you must put a luminated switch in dash or console so you can tell wether there on/off wiring em up should not be to difficult.i was thinking of doing it a couple of months back, but to exspensive so didnt take it any further. good luck :)
  16. Basically its a messy job. I told the guys that were installing my HU and none of them would wanna do it coz they say that they cannot guarantee anything. but apart from this way there's really no other known way of getting both stereo + display button to work. yeah ya might be right, my installer rang me this arvo on further investigation and said this might be the case(NO GUARANTEE IT WILL WORK),anyway if they dont work i can live with that, as the pay off will be visual/sound quality, which is what this setup is really about, wheel controls would be nice but not essential.thanks for the info.
  17. Alpine imprint processor about $240 & steering wheel button module about $200 will let ya know about trip comp.
  18. thanks for ya comments Eargunk and im in the hands of my installer(26yrs in car audio) he tells the only thing i have to worry about is the MONEY to pay for this creation.if we can get the wheel buttons to work i will post exactly what he did for future & exsisting installs. p.s Cant wait for install to begin, only 10 more sleeps.
  19. Had remote control on last system(never used it) im hoping to have all my stg wheel controls on the Aurion work and have been told its possible(we will see?)anyway in the scheme of the build it was a no brainer to try and keep the wheel buttons,i hope they work as i do use em a lot and the old saying, IF ITS WORTH DOIN ITS WORTH DOIN PROPERLY. I'm not familiar with the Aurion. Does the display button change anything on the current head unit or does it change the display above the head unit? From what I found when I was doing the install on my Kluger, the display button doesn't go to the head unit. Also, all current Toyotas with the 5 steering wheel buttons use the same resister network.I can't see why there would be a problem unless the installer couldn't be bothered. Talking about doing it properly, are you going to get navigation, bluetooth and front/rear multiview cameras as well? I wanted the Alpine unit you are getting, but once you added navigation, bluetooth, multimedia remote control and Ipod adapter(so that you can use USB at the same time) and that Alpine are not available at the discount internet car audio suppliers, I couldn't justify the price. I ended up getting the Kenwood DDX-8032BT and navigation which also allowed me to connect my garage remote to the head unit. Also, if you want 5.1 surround on the Alpine, you need to buy more accesories; it's included in the Kenwood, you just need to buy amps. If you don't care about cost, I think the Alpine is better. Mikey,im only adding bluetooth/ipod/rear camera/imprint processor.no Nav, im and old melways and map man, even at work in the owners 08 VE calias(factory nav, very nice) i still prefer my melways and as for my stg wheel buttons (im not sure) but i think its only the headunit they operate. Theres 2 buttons below my display seperate from stg wheel for small display in dash.
  20. installer is a mate,no not rrp,and $3000 system was in last car(peugeot)and wont be paying for wheel kit if it dosnt work.i never mentioned price other than its more exspensive than my last set up.
  21. What a joke, ive heard this before and im sure i will hear it again.I changed Dealers about 2 mths back.I was standing outside the waiting room waiting for my car to be returned when i noticed it comin down the road(it looked good and i felt proud)then just as the apprentice entered the drive way, he didnt slow down enough and proceeded to scrape the underside of the front bumper on entry(i wanted BLOOD)but remained sort of in control but then lost it when i was told(by manager) it would not have happened if i hadnt modified my vehicle and theres not much they can do other than a free touch up pen(yeah right)also when my weathersheilds were fitted 9kms were put on speedo, when i asked about the kms there was no real answer other than a test dive performed.(on weathershields?)more like hooning around or pickin up the lunches at midday more like it.Anyway see how the new dealer goes cant be any worse than those other DONKEYS.
