  1. man that supercharged one sounds mean, almost as good as mine, lol jks

Ahh yes... A... sounds very much like your car LOL mind you, this wasn't your car...

I still shotgun a spin in ya car on next cruise!

was this directed at wanting a ride in my car? im hopefully putting an exhaust on it soon so it should sound better....read the new topic about it, love to hear ur comments

  2. hey guys been a while since i did anything to my car..i've decided to replace the factory muffler and tip..hopefully in the near future headers, cat etc but for now its all i can afford.

because i dont want it to be too loud im thinking of going for a PEX sports exhaust with a 1 inlet 3 chamber 1 outlet with a dual tip. the size of the tips i chose is big enough but not too big its 2 big D's but one is back to front if u get wot i mean.

    i got a quote $286 installed

tell me wot u think, or if you guys have any other sugestions of brand etc, i dont want it too loud, im going mainly for looks but an improved 'deep' sports tone

    thanks heaps guys

sort of like this, but less elongated

    EDIT:

where can i buy lightweight pulleys for a 1mz-fe from? and do they make a difference to the acceleration?

and where can i buy new cams?

  3. Hey all, its been a while since i posted anything but im back, for those few of you who missed me.

Just thought that i would let all the camry owners with the 1mz-fe engine in it, YES it does have a rev-limiter.....

it bothered me for a while not knowing weather it did or not, but i accidently found out the other night lol

I was showing off to my friends in the rain and decided to launch the car as hard as possible around a bend, hopefully getting alot of spin and noise etc. me being the person that i am put it into L (auto) while waiting for the lights to change green, but forgot...lol u can imagine the rest, lights went green, friends standing next to the car, spinning about 70kmph in 1st at 70000rpm (redline at 6) rev-limiter protecting the engine thank god...

an up side to this was that my friend who is a car enthusiast like myself said it was the loudest engine he'd heard on the road :D

anyways, i know im stupid, and im glad the cars ok. toyota holding its rep for being VERY reliable

    until next time...... B)

  4. does anyone know where we can get information about illegal and legal modifications?

I've been looking through the RTA site and a friend has aswell and we just can't find anything about it

  5. ive done mine, havent had any problems yet, someone in vic told me if you cant see your tail light brake lights from 20mtrs then its illegal, but havent confirmed this.

i used a product called shadow tint, did about 1layer, looked crappy so i did about 3 - 4 layers until the can was empty lol. easy to do, best to do it on a sunny day to let it dry quicker too

is it a spray? or like a film like window tint.....

and if u stuff it up, wots tha best thing to use to get it off?

  6. another mention is this,

make sure you have some turps laying around... first time i did mine the tint started to run and it made it look messy... cleaning dried/wet spray tint off plastic IS NOT cool... takes ages.

thanks for the advice, is it hard to do?

  7. hey all,

as the title says i am thinking of tiniting my tail lights. i have seen a few camrys on the net with if done and i think it looks quiet good. obviously i dont want to do it if it is illegal, but i have been looking around on the rta website and can't find if it is or isn't. i was wondering if anyone on here knew where i could find this info, or if u know it is legal or not.

i also am having trouble finding where to buy it, i tried several newsagents but they didn't sell black, i also tried an art store but same outcome.

any help will be much appreciated

    hey mate

Any front or rear light tint is illegal and if the pollice feel picky they will do you for it. However this sayd ive tinted the rear lights on my car and the black on white tone looks good. I havent been pulled over regarding it yet, and at the random defect station they just look at it and dont bother.

You can buy Light Tint at either SUPERCHEAP AUTO / AUTO BARN / SPRINT AUTO and there around$15 to $20 if you get it any where else other then SuperCheap Auto.

thanx mate i will look into it

    r u serious u think 4 bangers r whimpy??? lol...

    hahahaha... We'll see!!!

Well im bringing 2 6 bangaz so maybe u should play around wit them.. LMAO!!!

But yeah WILLS car looks lyk a rally car from BEHIND n it sounds nice with his exhaust...

BRING THE ZR6 COZ NO 1 EVER ROCKS UP WITH 1!!!

    haha i was joking the 4 bangers r cute...lol nah they're good

    seeya all tonight,

  10. on the very far passenger side of your engine bay is a long, rectangular fuse box next to the battery - the headlight control relay is in there. on the lid of the fuse box is a map of what each fuse is and the amperage required

    found it.

it had sum brown sludge on the connecters.

i did my best to clean it, anyone suggest a good/cheap cleaning agent i can use....metho?

  11. Sounds like a dicky switch to me. Ether that or possibly a relay is faulty. When you put the lights onto high beam (and the light not come on) dose the little blue indicator come on the dash? If so I would say its a relay, if it doesn’t it maybe the switch.

can u point me in the direction of where the headlight relay is? and how to fix it?

  12. My headlights are playing up. sometimes they just dont turn on, the parkers will.....then after u turn on/off and fiddle with high beams and such they go on......

i changed the bulbs a couple of months ago and it has been fine up until about 2 days ago when it started happening.

anyone know how to fix it? or how to use the diagnose problem thing?

please help, its dangerous to drive at night now and the cruise it tonight :help:

  13. now i know where ur coming from about the pvc, yes that would be stupid. still about the intake and more air issue.

if for example u floor it off the line, with just the stock opening u will get x amount of air into the 'piping' but max air into the throttle body.

if u have a second opening, there is more air in the 'piping' therefore the maximum amount of air that can be sucked by the throttle body is reached quicker therefore better response......

thats wot i was trying to say, does that make sense?

the diameter of your intake pipe can only hold so much air, mate ;)

but wont it fill up quicker with 2 inlets rather than one?

no because your engines volumetric efficiency still remains the same, 2 air inlets or not. hence why no power gains are made with this particular setup.

so howcome im getting better throttle response?

  15. i understand that the engine has a limit to which it can suck air. but if u add another passage for the air to get into the intake piping, and when ur foot is planted to the floor there is no lag. from wot i did to my intake i have noticed better throttle response, and it is manily due to the removal of the resonators

and as for the pvc, u can see by my engine (1mz-fe) the first picture that i uploaded, that from the throttle body there is flexy tubing to a solid resonator to flexy tubing to air box. i simply removed the solid resonator and replaced it with pvc... is that really putting strain on the intake? as it was already solid before.

i am not trying in any way to be a smart**** im just putting forward wot i have been told by numerous people, if u have any further information that can help me or advise me with it would be greaty appreciated

the engine cannot suck in more air with the stock intake still installed. adding an extra opening (ie. removing the resonator) only allows it to suck air from different directions.

regarding the pvc, i misinterpreted you. if you replace the WHOLE tube with pvc piping, then yes its putting undue stress on the airbox, but if you've only replaced the resonator with straight through piping while still keeping the flexible rubber tubing, then it makes no difference to stress. (i thought you meant you replace the whole thing)

  16. i'd recommend against using pvc piping as its too rigid. if you rev your engine in neutral with the engine bay open, you'll see how much the engine moves in the mounts. this movement, coupled with the rigidity of pvc piping attached to the outlet on the air box, will put too much stress on the airbox itself and possibly crack it. you need something flexible but highly durable, such as reinforced silicone hosing.

you can pick up a 1 foot piece from supercheap auto for $39. you'll then need to buy some vaccum hose attachments to reconnect the hoses what were previously going into the upper resonator. for the lower resonator, you can block it off by removing it, then taping some thick durable plastic over the opening, then installing the resonator again. or you can just remove it, both options give slightly different sounds.

contrary to what addy287 said, removing it won't actually let more air in, your engine is still sucking in the same amount of air. the only thing that changes is the noise.
