  1. This is gonna be my next mod too... should be interesting to see what difference it makes.

Prob more noticeable for people who don't have the Touring Series Camrys... my Tourer came with 17mm swaybar instead of the stock 15mm ones, plus the Tourers are lower in the back.

my stock rear is 17mm.....anyone who has a 15 and wants to upgrade? let me know i'll sell it cheap

  2. i dont think i can make it guys.... i've been given a last minute shift to cover for someone who is very sick.

working from 9-11 then 5-god knows when.

im in wahroonga so if you let me know when u will be in hornsby i'd meet up with u guys, just to see the cars and buy a forum sticker which is desperatly needed for my JDM camry :P

    how would we do that?

i can PM my mobile number to you???

  4. 1. Overthe years the centre console lights, those around the vent control, temperature control, fan control have all died overthe past couple of years. I have been able to remove the moulding but have not been able to work out how to replace these lights, does any one know how to without sending the car back to Toyota

pull the molding off, undo the 4 screws in the four corners of the fan control section. you'll see some little clips that hold the face of the unit on i think from memory theres 2 on top/bottom and 1 on each side....

the face will come off and change globes....

  5. I have the whiteline rear sway bar installed and its definitely the mod that will dramatically improve the handling of the car. There is a lot less understeer and even a tickle of oversteer when pushed hard. TRD makes one too but you'll have to get that from the states and probably second hand too. I've also got a tower strut bar for the front, but I have to admit, I installed it for the asthetics than performance and I had one :P. I've got the TRD one which designed with the supercharger in mind in terms of clearance. It probably does make a difference but I didnt see a huge improvement, but that may be because i'm running coilovers as well. This you will have to go through america, and probably best to speak to Adam if you are serious about it.

i notice u said that u have coilovers...did u have the sway before u bought them?

sorry for asking so many questions, i just want it to be money well spent

  6. hey guys, i'll be getting my tax return money soon and im looking to buy a rear sway bar for my camry.

the only one that i can find is the whiteline 20mm, does anyone know of any other brands or thicker ones?

also anyone who has the whiteline installed if you could let me know how it performs, if there was a big difference and if there have been any problems with it.

also looking into a strut bar that will fir the v6 model. will it improve the turn in of the car, understeer, roll etc? i am yet to find any brand that sells one for me :(

any help will be much appreciated

  7. i have no problem with honda drivers but will they be riding with you? or bringing their own cars? as long as they respect the fact that it is a toyota meet and they won't be bagging or disrespecting anyone of our members (speaking from experience from previous events). then it's all good.

they would be bringing their own cars. and believe me, they repsect toyotas.... they absolutly love supras and sprinters, they only bag out holden and fords lol

sweet!! then they more then welcome to come for the drive.

getting more and more excited!! yay!! :toast:

just a quick question, how long roughly is the drive? wot time will we reach hornsby?

  9. Sorry to hijack, I know the whiteline struct doesn't fit the V6 since the product description mentioned (excl V6).

As I understood the Gen 5 Sportivo came with a struct brace, does this mean this brace is only present on the I4 Sportivo but not the V6? Doesn't really make much sense if that's true.

there are some on ebay from america, but i'm unsure if they will fit the aus-spec v6.

i dont see why it wouldn't fit btw....its not like the 4cyclinder engine BAY is smaller than the v6, the only thing that i can think of that might get in the way is the upper intake manifold..

i dont see why it shouldn't, im hoping to buy one when i have a little more money, for me the sway bar is more important

mine is still for sale, stock 17mm, rear with bushings.....gen 4

  10. i noe they are a good upgrade but i want to noe will they fit on a v6 camry cause most people say it wont fit and i dont want to waste money on something that doesnt fit

    sean

im looking to sell my rear sway bar. 17mm with bushings, fits gen 4 camry.

im open to offers but be reasonable

  11. how can they determine how much u have lowered the car by?

and does it take into account cars that are under load? i.e. 4 passangers and a full tank of fuel?

i rekon the way to save younger drives lives on the road would be to implement a first car owners grant. just like the first home owners, it would enable younger drivers to buy newer cars, that are safer eg airbags, ABS, traction, EBD etc. rather than stopping people lowering the cars y dont they concentrate on actually implementing laws/regulations that WILL save lives.

like the engine restrictions. as much as i hate the law, and can't wait till i get my full licence to give them a big F*** you with a fast car, the fact is it saves lives, banning people from lowering the car is just stupid. just the politicians trying to show our parents 'the voters' that they care and are actually trying to do something about the road death toll.

Another thing while im on the topic. I'm sick of fully licenced people tail gating me when i do the speed limit. they can't seem to make up their mind, i speed they give me dirty looks and yell stuff at me, i do the speed limit and i get tailed and harassed.

ah that feels better, lol :P

  12. I have recently purchased a 1 owner SV21 Camry in excellent original condition (11/87). It replaces one that was written off a couple of years ago. It has the original AM/FM radio cassette player (Philips CS205A/TEN Model no CE-6330) as pictured in the owners manual (CS model) and whilst AM works FM is just static noise. Thinking it was broken I managed to find an identical unit from a wrecker and plugged this one in only to find exactly the same problem. Also replaced the aerial and tried it in differing areas in case it was a signal problem but to no avail. Is there something I am missing in trying to program in the FM stations. Any ideas would be appreciated. Surely I haven't got 2 broken receivers and 2 aerials that are no good!!

could just be your luck.....

  13. Hey guys,

I also have a squealing noise in the front when braking.

I don't know what kind of brake pads are in now; I bought the car second hand and never looked/changed.

Now.. I was thinking about getting the black TRD front brake pads and then turning the rotors.

    Will the noise still remain?

Cause that answer from Superdave makes me think twice.. :o

i was under the impression that it was just little bits of metal that they use in the pads to make the harder compound rubbing on the rotor.....mine squeaks when the brakes r hot so i dont think they r performance.

from my understanding performance will squeak when cold? and perform better hot....mines the other way around.

hopefully when i get new rims i'll put sum nice disks, and paint the calipers

  14. Yeah man, would be much better to run the rear bank exhaust towards the rear of the car and join into the other pipe at around the sticker area... Should still keep the flexible pipe design tho...

Aurions are a big restriction in this area...

thanks for all the helps guys, really do appreciate it

just on the cam gears and lightweight pulleys anyone got any info about them?

  15. the triangle bit?

so should i get it made bigger?

That 'triangle' bit appears to be just covering the actual merge. Ideally, you would want to make it so that all the exhaust gasses flow as freely as they can into the pipe that goes to the left of the picture. Looking at that, it nearly looks like the exhaust from the rear cylinder bank would be pushing against the exhaust from the front bank, or at right angles to it. Preferably it would be good to have both of the pipes 'aiming' in the same direction.

Sorry for the lacking explanation. Here is a photo of the one on the Aurion. You kind of want it like this, but much neater. As you can see, the Aurion has a problem in that area as well:

    dsc02997tq5.th.jpg

this is going to sound really weird if i cant explain it right

would it be better if instead of them merging at the triangle bit, have the back bank turn around the other way so that it just connects to the pipe near the sticker, and get rid of the flexy stuff and make it a straight pipe to the cat if that makes sense

  16. yours is an auto, correct?

if so, it will still sound nice under load and WOT (depending on the quality of the muffler), but during normal driving and shifting will tend to somewhat drone

lukey mufflers are reknown for having a deeper, throaty rumble to them but i have no idea on the pricing. your best bet is to just go around to various exhaust shops and get different ideas from a few professionals about different combinations

if for now youre planning on keep the normal piping from the block back, then it should be ok. but as soon as you increase the piping diameter (for 1mz, i'd say a maximum of 2.5") the louder the droning will become louder

thanks for the advice, i've been around to a few places, they are generally saying similar things about the noise that i will get from it. its probs just a matter of price atm.

btw i asked about headers, no-one sells them would i have to get them custom or from the states???

and also i've heard a few people saying that the 'Y' pipe is restrictive...if i ask them the change the y pipe will they know wot i mean?
