  1. .....or read the instruction manual that came with the car that shows how to change the battery and what to do etc etc when its goes flat lol
  2. Same thing happened to me in the first couple of days of the new Kluger....when the dealer sent the Kluger out to have the front windows tinted the tinting guys didnt put the wiring back properly as they had to take door panel off to put the tint on fully. Could be something as simple as that!?
  3. You need to read thread from a few weeks ago on loading contacts!
  4. Hey fizzking sorry to hear about your bad experience. I'm fussy with my cars so when the dealer asks if they would like the vehicle washed I politely say no thank you but a thorough vacuum would be good. I also stipulate to the consultant every time the wheels/tyres are due for rotation that I require the 5 wheel rotation as per the owners manual and not the 4 wheel rotation. Never had a problem as they always annotate this on the service form or they would only do the 4! Its not so bad on the fixed price servicing but when service costs go to variable also tell them you dont want the washer bottle refill which they charge a stupid amount for given what it is. Got caught once on my Corolla when mine was full prior to the service and they charged for a refill after testing the wipers...pleeeeeease! They are monkeys so if you want them to do a job properly spell it out....I know you shouldnt have to but the resale value a few years down the track will be better if you wash it properly. My local Toyota service dept has a huge viewing window in the customer lounge that looks over the service bays so I always set aside time on the servicings to watch them do their job. Thats what they put the window there for as the kids arent really interested lol I have only ever had one problem with a service (previous car) and when I did their survey and told of the problem you could tell that sh%t did rolled down hill that day and everything was fixed pronto. At least you get a courtesy car...if I want one from my dealer they charge me for the courtesy!

    Recall 2011

So do you have anymore info like links etc? Recalling 2011 Kluger......bit early one would think lol
  7. We had this issue earlier this year....a bit of fiddling and its done via your PC! Contacts to Sat Nav This was for my Nokia. Unfortunately the owners manual for the Sat Nav is pretty crap to say the least when it comes to instructions on this. Probably because every phone is different!
  8. The magic number is $1000 AUD. Anything under that Australian customs is not interested in. Over $1000 (total value of goods not including freight) they slap on GST, Declaration Processing Charge, Line Transport and Insurance charge. For a $1660AUD Network Attached Storage Device I had to pay Australian Customs all these fees totalling $229.28 before they would release from the bond store! All these costs are quoted directly from my Customs Tax Invoice. When I spoke to Customs they said to remember the $1000 limit. In this case it was pointless as the unit was a singular item that could not be broken down into individual parts to values of less than $1000 in total. Its also based on the value of the entire shipment not each individual item within that shipment!
  9. I wont/am not defending car sales persons but in a majority of cases today's buyer arms themselves to the hilt with information regarding the model they are interested in purchasing whereas the sales person has to know more than you on every vehicle in "his" manufacturers range. I am yet to find a sales person that hasnt learnt something from my enquiries with them on particular cars and vice versa. Would you buy a house on the say so of the agent or after you did a pest inspection, market review of the area etc etc yourself? The sales person was probably selling TV's yesterday and the dealership is probably having just as much trouble finding quality staff like most other employers around the country. Given your statement about "whitegoods" I am not sure you have fully researched the Toyota Kluger or have owned many Toyota's. Regarding the three prices given by a sales person this would be "ball park" figures for particular Kluger models. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VVT-i for some different variants, but given the "extra's" on this "Limited Edition", it sounds like a an "Altitude" model which by definition is a "Special" edition on the Toyota Aust web site. Before you go to any other dealers do your homework. "Bugger", for $50k+ expenditure you need to do your research dilligently and make that sales person think, and even know, that you are more informed than they are! Doesnt matter if its a Mazda, Holden or submarine the same applies! http://au.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=25498 details how Kluger outsells Mazda (Audi didnt rate?). If the Kluger wasnt any good it wouldnt sell so dont judge a car by how much the sales person doesnt know. If you still think the Toyota product is a "whitegood" then I hope you enjoy your Mazda or Audi :-) I have owned Toyota's, Ford's, Mazda's, Holdens etc and now have gone full circle and realised that for quality and value, I wont buy anything but Toyota for a mainstream vehicle due to the level of product satisfaction I have had. Good luck :)
  10. Just checked and there is is no way of changing the speed or distance to/from imperial/metric unless you have some kind of interface to the GPS with Toyota/Denso software running to change parameters. When you go into the basic back end to check firmware revisions etc it comes up with country (AU in this case) as well as other info which is mainly just status info and some setups for bluetooth. Also give GPS speed so you can compare to speedo dial. To truely check if GPS would work in another country, you would have to download US wheris (as example) and put disc in AU GPS and see if it works ok regarding operation etc. Obviously you would be off the US map but putting in locations and scrolling thru map may work!? I have hunted everywhere on the net to get deeper into the GPS firmware without much luck. There are some US sites (mentioned in this forum) that provide changes but you have to know exactly what Denso unit you have or risk it turning into a brick. So in conclusion I am 99% sure the GPS will work in Australia but it would use imperial and not metric read outs for speed and distance.
  11. if i bought the gps system from the u.s would it work if i used the australian whereis disc in it ? thats the question. Yes it will work as the only difference between the GPS units would be the speed (mph or kmh), as stated above, and distance readout settings in the firmware. You could get compatible maps from anywhere in the world and put them in the unit and it will work. The GPS is just a radio receiver that uses lats and longs to determine where you are on the loaded maps....any map! Its a "generic" GPS receiver so the one variable is the maps which is what all GPS's run off. For example I purchased a Garmin 196 Aircraft GPS directly from the US and just downloaded the latest info for Australia....works fine! The only reason that the most GPS units in cars dont have world maps is the size of the database for all the roads would be so large that the unit would be so slow at finding address points etc. Just remember the maps are database driven so the bigger the database the slower the operation. All vehicle GPS models are basically the same in every country the only difference is the maps. In fact I think the distance and speed can be changed between metric and imperial in the back end that I have seen.....I will get back to you on that one for sure though.
  12. Should work here if you add Australia Whereis maps! GPS units are a worldwide device....just comes down to what maps you use in the unit. Also it will probably be in mph as I dont recall a setting to change it to kmh!
  13. Key chains and pouches are dealer supplied with all their info on them and in them for their customers while Toyota just supply the manuals with the car. If the dealer didnt supply it then the dealer doesnt have any or cant be bothered giving you one!
  14. You need to copy your contacts from SIM to Phone first. Then you will see them in PC Suite. My Nokia PC Suite for some reason doesnt use,nor can I find where to setup, the SIM as default for contacts. So after you copy from the SIM to phone memory use Windows Explorer/File Manager to find them and copy them to the new folder you created on the phone. Then do the send proceedure. Note that the contact files are .vcf files. If you double click on them PC Suite Contact Manager will open up with that contacts info where you can edit/add info. You can also see the raw data in Notepad. I'm guessing the SatNav wont recognise other formats when you pair it with a Nokia!
  15. The current figure will reset automatically when you put petrol in the tank.....detects a change in fuel tank level from last known reading before turning off. Doesnt need to be half a tank. It reset for me yesterday when I topped up and put $15 in it which was about 13lts of fuel. Your last 5 previous readings will only be saved when you hold down the display button (in the grande anyway). Its all in the owners manual.
