[whinge-from-experience]
and in english this means that the remaining staff will be forced to work harder for the same money.
redundancies never work in favour of the remaining staff.. the workload doesnt just automatically disappear, its still there and the people left have to deal with it...
[/whinge-from-experience]
Agreed. Then you may even get uptitled to make you feel special.
You both understand perfectly ;)

To clear things up, Toyota has asked staff to individually advise if they would welcome a compulsory redundancy. Not quite voluntary, but a good indicator as to who is keen to move on ...
Not all staff are production line workers, the 350 staff includes other roles, including security/admin. These roles will be taken up by more efficient organisation structure.
Seeing things as a neutral party, the delays in announcing those to be redundant is due to lack of agreement between company and union. My personal opinion of the disagreements ... I saw the union requests as over the top. As negotiations reached 10 weeks, the case went to fair work Australia.
Staff know the timing for announcements (all will know by Monday, or earlier in some cases), so they are not unaware as the news article stated.
Let's try to keep second hand information to a minimum ...

So I lost everything I was typing to post here, so here is the pic and 15% of what I originally typed ...
Bought a sealed battery (right) for my project car (imagine an Ariel Atom), which is using an Aurion 2GR-FE as a donor (left):
Went from 15.1 to 7.0kg, including metal jacket.
Alternate battery technologies (such as this, being Absorbed Glass Mat or AGM) can have a lower CCA spec, but deliver great cranking power - the above is rated 170 CCA, but delivers 520A for 5 seconds (which is enough for me).
The manufacturer recommendation for a V6 Camry (by physical size being plug and play) is for an 850 CCA (1500A for 5 seconds) unit.
Can be mounted in any direction and uses very little space.
Started the engine straight out of the box ... no turning over, the engine just went from OFF to ON.
Battery service life is roughly double that of a lead acid equivalent.
I know I'm using this in more of a Motorsport environment ... but the future will be all about batteries :(

also the last bolt is ***** poorly engineered, the 14mm (10mm thread) is actually thinner than it's meant to be the diameter of the hole is 12mm!
Bolts don't rely on a close fit to do their job, that's what a dowel is for - the tightening torque (38 Nm in this case) is what does the work.

Waiting periods in Japan reached a year for this model! Good vehicle or great marketing? I think both.
But ... I'm in the market for an 86 whilst there is still crude oil left :(
-
Or just buy the new Atara or Sportivo lol.
^ Edit previous post to say this!
The new model also has improved shift response.

it's just a matter of running 2 wires in parrallel to the ones at the gearshifter wiring harness located under the center console.
Or if you work out the wiring diagrams from the repair manual, you will find the correct wires you need are behind the drivers kick panel (just next to the accelerator pedal). Far less trim requiring removal!
Here is the switch diagram for s-mode:
Now, find connector AE5.
Found it:
Multimeter still required ...

Im pretty sure toyota still make the 4.2 litre diesel. but export them to countrys were they have poor fuel quality where the v8 turbo diesel comon rail fuel system wouldnt survive running on bad fuel.
I dont know where my mate got he sources from or whether or not there only importing for the mines only I dont know.
All basically correct. I know some multi-national mining companies have previously imported what they wanted from other countries, but that is becoming less common with OH&S on many sites (requiring registration, for example). It also continues the other way, with V8's being exported (to Indonesian mines). All of this is relatively small scale and not really on Toyota Australia's books.

If the potential problem is gone, what more do you want?
Not a damn thing. He wasn't even at risk of the problem in the first place.
I know the car has the later part, I was using the royal 'you' ...

Not with new emissions requirements ...

I feel the metal pipe is what they should be replacing it with under the recall/warranty.
Here we go again ...
To do this by the book, the engine needs to be removed. Do you have the time to go without your car for at least 2 days and do you want to risk all the possible side-effects from such a job?
I found it googling the oil sender, the fault is due to vibration and the metal parts of the pipe wearing through the rubber.
Don't always trust google; the early hose material was inappropriate, with the new hose being of an appropriate material.
If the potential problem is gone, what more do you want?

1/8 NPT (PT1/8) is correct for 2GR-FE, with a thread depth of 7mm.

This can happen if you don't put the shelf back in correctly and close the door, pushing the shelf hard into the pin. Make sure it's on right when putting it back in..

I think I still have spare manual A/C controls, send me a PM if interested.

I've seen an engine sludge up (& die) after one of these flushes ...
Stick to regular servicing, increase oil service interval, or find evidence of a problem, before considering this.

I will never be going back to South Melbourne Toyota (service, sales or used cars):
Damaged every single wheel during a service. It took longer than promised to have them repaired. Very polite, but got the feeling they did the whole service with only a screwdriver.
Also went to get a trade-in price from the used car department - got treated like trash, spoken to rudely and the guy walked off mid-sentence ...
That said, I've had no concers with Le Mans Deer Park, Brighton Toyota, Camberwell Toyota and Lane Toyota in the past.

Dealer was a kunt for doing this on a 50k car! Simple!
My Dealer was so ashamed he got in the proper metal part for me for free!
So you've saying you missed the point of the thread on this one? The thread is about bad DEALER experiences. In the above quote you have both ripped them (saying it was the dealer making the decision) and complimented them (saying that they gave you something for nothing).
Cause I told them they were cheap scates! I told Toyota too.
By being proactive and spending money, rather than sitting back doing nothing (which probably would have been the cheaper option)?
Its a corporate company run by accountant bean counters NOT by engineers or people with any tact or customer service,
The accountants would have preferred it be made from rice paper (it tastes so much better), so your comment is clearly incorrect.
The pipe DODGY FIX was all to save money,
A) on the part
B) on the extra labor associated.
Why isn't every part of the car over-engineered? Because it adds to the retail price of the car and every car is designed to be competitive in a segment.
The correct procedure to remove the lower banjo is to remove the engine from the vehicle. Would yourself and thousands of others prefer the extra two days without a car for installation (for something that will perform the same)?
THAT CAN BE HUNG ON TOTYOTA IN SHAME AND ON ANY DEALER WHO DARE ARGUE WITH SOMEONE WITH A BRAIN LIKE MYSELF.
An inappropriate material was used. It was replaced with an appropriate material. How can your brain argue with that?
If it were a proper fix no new cars would have a piece of crap rubber hose, end of story troll!
Do you have the qualifications or relavent industry experience to actually say it is crap? If so, it would have been clear to you what the old material was (clearly printed on the hose) and how it is different from the new.
-
Oil line recal (skimped on proper fix as per new Klugers *metal line factory fitted*) their solution was a piece of crap rubber line of "new special material"
Using the new rubber material is nothing to do with the dealer; Toyota Japan decided the repair method for all vehicles globally and provided parts accordingly. You can't hang that one on the dealer in any way!

No noise from my parcel shelf.
As for shinny interior trim, I keep my finger nails trimmed & don't hold sharp/hard stuff in my hand when touching those areas.
Enjoying the light weight & manual transmission, but missing the power of the old Aurion ...

Any 7PK2090 will fit:

Had I not already bought 2 Garrett turbochargers ...
Only a few other parts to get double the normal power:
Injectors
ECU
Connecting rods
Forged 9:1 pistons
Valve springs
Manifold pipe
Also considered increasing the bore size, only after I've damaged the 2 engine blocks I have.

That's fairly high mileage for 2 years.
That's within (but at the high end of) the redbook mileage range.
There is a big difference between 48,000 city km versus highway km, yet you didn't ask ...
In Australia, the average is 20,000km per year.
-
48,500km in 2 years

Sold my facelift ZR6 last month, private interest from Carsales didn't start til $25k and the best dealer offer was $24k.
By that reasoning, you could have had my ZR6 with a years rego, new tyres, serviced and stamp duty for $26,500 in VIC ...
Toyota Entertainment (GPS) Unit
in Audio/Video/Electronics
Posted
This it the new level 3 (high grade) unit to be used on virtually all models (not on Camry, Aurion and Prado). New units (including without GPS) are already available on FJ Cruiser, Yaris, Rukus, Kluger, Hilux, RAV4 and now Corolla Hatch.
They have the capability of rear USB, but it is up to the vehicle specification if used.
A Yaris really doesn't have much of a centre console (between front seats), with a focus on the dash for controls. Check with your dealer to be sure ...
