  1. Well thats a good thing if youve had that response from your kings but theres definitely alot of ppl out there who arent kings fans. I did a quick search on auto anything for the 02 camry springs and it came up with a few options. I checked out the tein one on the tein website which lists a set for the 02-03 camry acv30... that wont fit?

    I am not saying there aren't people out there who have had problems with King Springs.

    The Australian Gen5 Camry is a 36 series. Not a 30 series. The spring may/may not fit and if it does I don't know if the spring rates for it will be correct or not.

    Should I leave my rear spring stock and just change front with lowered king? I am bit concerned about load rating of lowered spring. My rear stock sits 2-3cm down when loaded up and if it is gonna be same with lowered spring then I will have a clearance/rubbing issue right? I don't want to be bottoming out on bumps when loaded up.

    I had no scrubbing when I installed Low springs all round (along with replacing the shocks to KYB) and I didn't even need to roll the guards; even with a full car. However, if you drop to King SuperLows, you will need to roll your guards; even if you are just on your own with little/no load.
  2. I had thoughts of doin king springs until i local suspension bloke rubbished em. What stuck in my mind was the fact that he said warranties on the king springs allow only above 25mm of sag before kings will look at it and other brands such as h&r and eibach is something like greater than 5mm. Hearing that killed the idea of kings for me.

    I have used King Low springs with KYB ExcelG shocks with no sag issues, I have used SuperLow springs with my Koni Sport shocks with no sag issues.

    Besides, the only other off the shelf spring you will get for a 36 series Camry is from Lovells. There are heaps of brands on the market but very little who make anything for a 36 series Camry.

  3. Where can I source some KYB Excel G shocks cheaply? The cheapest i find on ebay is $160 each or $600 a set, which a bit steeper than I thought. Is this normal price? In this case, shocks $600 + springs $300 almost reaching to coilover price territory.

    That's about the right price.

  4. I don't mind if car is not low and I know lowering helps for handling. But lower look is not what I am after.

    I just want this camry's famous boaty bouncy characteristics of the car is gone.

    Is this caused by softer springs or shot shocks? How do I stiffen up the car to achieve what i want?

    Should i first try shocks on my stocks spring or go for stiffer springs and new shocks altogether?

    The standard Sportivo setup in reviews all say it handles well but isn't a racing car so it is likely your shocks are dead. Replacing the shocks on their own will make a big difference;given the labour required it isn't a bad idea to replace the springs as well. I was very happy when I replaced my worn shocks with the KYB Excel G and a King Low Sprng combination.

  5. The items you have linked appear to be the right ones but you will need to assess which Lower Control Arm bush you need. They sell offset kits as well to correct steering to allow the car to drive straight when the wheel is pointed straight. I personally needed a double offset kit which coincidentally I just found out today have failed after some 40000km; which is fricken annoying.

    I wouldn't give any of the low end coils (BC/DGR/K-Sport/D2) the time of day, so I would go the shock/spring combo but you will sacrifice the ability to really drop the car on it's *****. Ultimately though, it is up to you.

    Other than that coilovers.

    Thinking to do these upgrades as fund allows in the future. Getting first one done tomorrow, so others to will be followed eventually in due course.

    The second upgrade will be poly urethane bushes. I think i definitely should do bushes as i can feel disconnected sogginess over bumps and train tracks and it must be soft rubber bushes mashing things up..

    So the questions are

    1) how much would I be looking at if i buy set of poly bushes?

    2) Is this feasible DIY or bit too much and should be done by shops?

    3)if it is to be done by shops how much rough estimate that I am looking to pay for their labour?

    How old are your shocks? They will almost be on their way out. Replacing them will make a huge difference (KYB Excel-G are affordable and good replacements).

    Poly bushings are unnecessary unless they need replacing with the exception of the Lower Steering Rack bushes which really does wonders for steering feel and response. If your car is pulling left or right, get a set of the eccentric (offset) control arm bushes which will make your car drive straight.

    Realistically, the rear sway bar is still by far the best value for money upgrade for handling.

  7. Yea I have decided to get a set of PS3 as christmas gift for myself

    it seems like it is the best tyres in the market at that price range in wet

    Compared to the Sportmaxx RT, the PS3 is a far superior tyre. Better handling in the dry, better handling in the wet, excellent road manners and has a great feel to it. Inspires confidence. I hate my SportMaxx'es so much I am considering ditching them after only 13000km.

    The Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 is around the same pricepoint as the PS3 and SportMaxx and will be my next tyre. Then I'll just choose out of those 2.

  8. Well, since they will bolt on I will put in my 2 cents:

    I have put electric seats into my Camry (bought some facelift ones a while ago); the airbag plug remained the same and we just stole power from one of my amps to power the seats. I haven't had any issues with it since I put them in a year or so ago.

  9. He was probably thinking Camry, which do have a manual option. From factory, there has not been a manual Aurion.

    edit: That's wierd, I didn't see any of those previous responses.

    And yes, it is stoooopit of Toyota not to issue a manual for the Aurion. And from what I've been informed, it is very doable.

  10. Unless you have an OBD-M scanner with the necessary data; you won't get any readings on your reader. Despite the plug cap saying OBDII on the front, the Gen5 Camry is OBD-M (according to the manual).

    I couldn't say what is wrong though, I would personally reset the ECU and see if the problem happens again.

  11. I've had the Dunlop Sports Maxx (225/45/R17) for about 3 months now and they are not all that great..

    I had Bridgestone RE001's previously and these had better handling compared to the Dunlop Maxx.. (although the Dunlops were more quieter than the RE001's)

    Christ, the RE001's must make a racket. I can't stand my Sport Maxx RT.

    Switching back to the Pilot Sport III (may splurge on the Pilot Super Sport though...)
