    I don't think so

Speaking of which, I went to have some wood cut for a speaker project and went to a mob called Wood N' You in Coopers Plains (just off Boundary road).

They had a wide range of wood at very reasonable prices, all wood is cut to specification using a CAD and machine resulting in perfect cuts and pinpoint accuracy. In addition to this, my project didn't emphasise on visuals, so they offered me the sacrificial layer of wood on a new pile which was only covered in veneer (but otherwise exactly what I wanted) which cost me 1/2 of the normal price.

So if you're based in Brisbane, visit Wood N You in Coopers Plains and speak to Julian. Otherwise call them on 07 3274 5677.

  2. 35k only? That doesn't sound like much. I guess your right foot is also feather light

Unlike the Pirelli P1's, the Michelin Pilot Sport III's are not a 'green' tyre that is designed for high mileage. So I wonder how many km you'll get on them.

I could have reached 40k but I gave them to a mate for burnout tyres.

  3. I have Dunlop Sport Maxx RT in 235/40/18R and I was incredibly disappointed with them. I highly recommend the Michelin Pilot Sport III. In the same size they are more expensive than the Dunlops but they are quieter, more comfortable, better in the wet and equal in the dry plus they are far more grounded when pushing them. They lasted me 35k and I still was 1-2mm away from the indicators before I bought the Dunlops.

  4. Aurions are popular enough, statistically you will end up finding a driver who is an attractive female. I am sure there are mingers out there as well.

I reckon with that money you can easily get yourself a different set of alloys that will look as good and not cost you so much. $2480 for set? Yeeeeeowch!

  5. Sorry, but I beg to differ - that is, 'from a general point of view'.

They are all belts between 1990 and 2002, (to the best of my knowledge, see link).

The current question then is that it would be a chain in that case.

    Why? He is correct.

The Gen5 Camry came in 2 flavours: V6 (1mz-fe) and 4-cylinder (2az-fe). The 1mz uses a timing belt and the 2az uses a timing chain.

I don't know what the service interval is for a 2az (Jeffy may know; he has one and probably has access to the manual) but the 1mz recommends replacement of the timing belt at the 150k mark.

  6. Despite of Trent's... sharp response he is for the most part correct.

    http://www.racq.com.au/motoring/cars/car_advice/car_fact_sheets/speedo_accuracy

You should feel blessed that your previous speedometers had read accurately given the rather wide range it has had legally to fall in. Your neighbour should give a rather large donation to the Motoring Gods for his current model reading true. If I were you, I would probably tithe your local Toyota Dealer a small amount for being -3.64% of your true speed. Let's face it; less than 5% error is pretty good.

In addition; while you're raging about angry truck drivers may I remind you that their aggressive; and from the sound of things unwarranted, boorish behaviour has nothing to do with your Kluger's speedo or your local Service Centre. I'd be noting their company, registration and time and lodging a formal complaint with their company. Most companies believe their drivers should display admirable qualities and driving of that behaviour would certainly be frowned upon as it reflects poorly upon themselves.

  7. I agree what is said above!!!

Certain 2 facts on this page are unequivocally the best we have all had. This is actually the greatest issue with claims about road noise from tyres.

But comparions still can be made when switching from one tyre make/model to another make/model on the same vehicle; and have your findings be of some use.

  8. The current "kit" I am aware of is the HKS and the TOMS S/C kit for the 2GR in the Lexus IS350, at a cost of $10-15K+ which you look into. However the Aurion is FWD so I dont think it would be a direct bolt-in.

Your best bet is getting a TRD S/C and sticking that in. Best to check the FAQ's for this. Anything else would be a custom job.

Not really. The charger and the necessary parts (manifold, belts, pulleys etc) will almost cost you as much as a custom kit; especially if you buy new, Geniune parts (which you may very well do given how rare the TRD Aurions are). Also, the standard TRD pulley is very small so you're pretty much capped at the boost maximum (whatever that is, I don't recall anyone knowing how much boost the TRD runs).

A custom setup may very well be a better way to go, if it is done right.

Buy a TRD Aurion. Save yourself thousands of dollars

    Smartest post in the thread.

  9. wot ish "having a bath"?

Noun. A laugh, often in the sense of ridiculing, hence often heard as "you're having a tin bath mate!", meaning "you're having me on and can't be serious". Cockney rhyming slang, from Cockney's pronunciation of bath as barf, so rhyming with laugh (pronounced larf). [London use]

So my usage of 'having a bath/having a tin bath' I am suggesting that he is having me on if he thinks people are jealous because one owns a BMW or Aurion.

  10. This happened to me ages ago in my previous white E46 BMW 323i, I was sitting in the car with my GF and her mate eating maccas (Hallam, Princes hwy) after a big night out. The kids in the next parking spot had a full car load of drunks.. one in the back left seat opened the door and knocked my rear right door.. as soon as I heard the knock, I got out the car grabbed the kid and asked him WTF his problem was, has he no respect etc.. as soon as I grabbed him, he started tearing up, my GF stopped me, he then jumped back in the car, they then sped off. There was only a tiny nick, so I polished it out and came up fine.. The reason I acted the way I did is because previously I parked at a club (Motel, city rd, south Melbourne) some d*** head had jumped on my hood, ruining it! I'm over idiots who are either jealous or simply don't care!

I now park far away from other cars in open, well-lit areas and haven't had an issue in 5 or so years :)

If you think people are jealous that you own an Aurion or a BMW 323i (lets face it, most people won't know/care if it is a 46/36/90 series 323i) you are having a bath. If it were an Aston/Lambo/Ferrari/Maserati it would be a different story.

    Most people just don't care.
