  1. Adam, none of those intake kits are guaranteed to work with the 36 series. Both intake kits are made to work with the 3MZ-fe, which is the 3.3L bigger brother of the 1mz-fe. In addition, the body that they have been made for may not be the same as our 36 series. They both look like they come with the tubing/connector for the engine oil breather, but doesn't seem to offer anything for the vacuum surge tank. Biggest 'issue' with the 36 series is that they integrated the Vacuum surge tank from the Gen4's (http://www.toyodiy.com/parts/p_G_1999_TOYOTA_CAMRY_MCV10R-AEPGKN_1708.2.html) into the airbox. So in order to get a SRI/CAI setup, the easiest way is to buy one of these from Toyota or get one from a wrecker (that is, the vacuum surge tank from a Gen 4). A wrecker will only ask for $20 max. The 2 tubes that require vacuum will tap into the canister and the other tube can vent into the atmosphere; just put a filter on the end of it. As far as I know, there aren't any off the shelf CAI/SRI products for the gen5.
  2. 'all these'? You're on a Toyota specific forum, in the Camry section. Of course you are going to have more exposure to people asking help for issues on their car. It's a touch silly to say that suddenly there are 'all these' problems with Camrys. I wonder how many people bother signing up just to make a thread like "OMG my Camry is the best, it's flawless"??
  3. Funny you should mention it; as per the text message. River terrace/stanley street/onramp to the freeway was packed so I took an alternative route through Lower River Terrace to pop out near Sommerville House. All the roads there were dirty from the construction then I got stuck behind a dump truck (which happened to throw poo-loads of dirty droplets at me) from Gladstone Road till I took the Park road exit off Fairfield road, just on the roundabout there. FML!!!!
  4. no shit sherlock. fuck... Hey hey. Don't be smart. I thought it was magenta.
  5. I wanted to nap but I couldn't sleep so I thought I'd make myself useful.
  6. i dont know for sure..but as far as i have heard they are fine as long as the filter is properly mounted with clamps and secured so that it doesnt move around..on mine that part of things are taken care of.. Ahh ok, same as QLD then.
  7. Tow hitch. You will need to buy a plug from Toyota, part number I believe is: 52129-YC020
  8. What restrictions does WA have on exposed filters in the bay?
  9. Haha :P Sarah is lucky she's got you. Willing to give up a night out with the boys (and girl) to spend time with her. How sweet!... We know what you want... Speak for yourself, I for one am entirely clueless :P Might have something to do with Sarah's baking. I'll be present. Will go to Hoppy's first to add another coat of wax. Dee, if you want we can add another to your little baby as well. Then we can think about waxing your car!
  10. Clay, seal and wax today. Kinda odd considering I'll be getting the rear fixed up soonish.
  11. Gen 5.5 (facelift, 2004-2006) Camry front bumper. Altise/Ateva/Sportivo/Azura take your pick. They all use the same bumper.
  12. It is something you can do to your existing pipe. Most decent exhaust shops should do this for you. When I was talking about the heat transfer, I was referring to the heat soaking into the SRI/CAI tubing; not the filter. If you are anal about heatsoak into the tubing you can get it coated in ceramic if you wish. However, a pod filter in a hot engine bay will take in hot air. Isolate it from the engine bay by either a shield or routing it out of the engine bay will allow the filter to take in cooler air. edit: Reducing the temperature of your intake air is beneficial for obvious reasons.
  13. But Edge is not a true synthetic oil as it is derived from mineral oil! :P It's a Group III oil while Mobil 1 is a Group IV oil... that being said I couldn't tell you what makes the Group IV better than Group III
  14. oh, sorry. Chances are they won't be interchangeable.
  15. K8Canb, I have a 4-point front lower bar for the 36 series here (brand new, never installed) here if you want one cheap. I was going to put it on but due to my exhaust modifications, my cat gets in the way and to have it moved is going to cost me too much. Link to the post when I tried to fit it: http://au.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=22416&view=findpost&p=388074 I can't comment on the Gen3 and Gen4, but suspension wise the ACV36R and MCV36R are the same. So while UR market it for the ACV36R's, they will fit both ACV and MCV models. USPS Priority Mail International is the most cost effective way to send your gear. It's fast enough, has insurance and won't cost you too much. UPS, USPS Global Express, FedEx and DHL are fast but very very expensive. Adam is good, because he can minimise your costs (e.g tax + best method to ship stuff)/ If you get a SRI/CAI pay extra for ceramic coating. It should prevent any heat transfer from the piping that leads to the throttle body to the intake air. But apparently the heat transfer is minimal anyway. The WA transport site sucks but your local transport regulators might require you to box your filter anyway. Here in QLD you just need to make sure it's secure but in NSW they require you to have it boxed.
  16. As far as I know (from what I've seen instore), Mobil 1 is usually only found in two varieties: 5-30w and 5-50w. The 5-30 goes for around $90 for 5L and the 5-50 goes for around $80
  17. For cheap postage use: www.e-go.com.au If you are buying off Ebay, ask the seller to: 1)Pack the boxes 2)Give you the dimensions of the box (or boxes) 3)Give you the weight of each box (or boxes) 4)Give you their address + phone number Book the consignment and send them the consignment note that they stick on the box (or boxes). Unless they have an account with TNT where they get epic discounts; E-Go is usually your best bet. Adam: Will keep you informed with the wheels.
  18. But what kind of cooking oil? Canola? Peanut? Sesame? Vegetable? Original? Grapeseed? Olive? Halal? Kosher? In answer to OP, 5-30w or 10-30w will work with the Aurion fine. It is not an Aurion but i use Mobil 1.
  19. Would look good with the Alphas, the only thing is you'd probably want to get them fixed up before you put them on. A little bit of gutter rash. At least they'll come with some Federal 595-SS with tread. I'll keep you updated.
  20. Kool. My first deleted thread. I think I tried to experiment on deleting an old irrelevant thread and I didn't have appropriate permissions. I'm still trying to understand what a 'Moderator' on the boards here can and can't do. Unfortunately it's not like I have a manual or anything... or so I think. Edit: I can't block the member though. I think that is a job for a Super Mod. That or you're in line for another promotion...!
  21. Hey Daryl: http://au.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=29433 Please?
  22. I sold my brace to lateralaus, who has since sold his Gen5. My strut brace that I had made up is based alot on the TRD one except it's a one piece. The UR brace made the steering feel more direct and it somewhat reduced understeer. However, I had mine put one before I got the RSB so it actually amplified the body roll because the front was now alot tighter than the rear. If you are going to supercharge it, don't buy the UR brace as it won't fit. Look for the TRD brace. It's not as stiff as the UR brace (but stiff enough) and it will give you the clearance you need for the charger.
  23. There is a certain person who has suggested to me that the Ultra Racing strut tower brace for the MCV/ACV36r MAY fit on the V6 Gen4 Camry. He's done some measuring but since we didn't have a brace to test it out; it is a try at your own risk sort of thing. I'd go the UR brace over the TRD brace any day of the week. the TRD brace is good, but the UR brace is fantastic. The only bad thing is that it doesn't have enough height to clear the supercharger setup.
  24. damn, that engine bay is sparkling clean. Might give mine a wash down today.
