  1. i run my sx6 as a taxi around hobart, there are many hills to climb and my fuel consumption is around 10.5 to 11.2 lt/100. this is running on ron91, have tried ron95 but this seems to up the consumption to nesr 12lt/100. the best i got from the v6 camry (modded) on ron95 was 12.4lt/100.
  2. i have also found that my speedo is out of wack compared to my previous camry, the readings on speedo and gps were accurate, but now at 110kmh the gps shows 104kmh.
  3. sorry that should read 10 inch in length, a 2.5 inch muffler and about 5 inch in circumference
  4. yes im running GT radials on the front at the moment they are a very good tyre quiet, they also have a better profile than the michelin energy tyres, which i have found to be a bit noisy. ther is a price difference too. GT's $180 compared to the michelin energy $250.
  5. at last fixed the drone, removed hot dog, put on a 10 inch round glass packed resonator, retained the small hot dog just before the split down to the redback mufflers, the drone is still there, much quieter but more notey, and hasn't killed the nice burble at cruising speed.
  6. can the rear spark plugs be replaced without removing intake manifold ?
  7. Sorry to revive a kind of older thread, but while I was tidying up in my boot today, I thought I would see if I can make my boot pop up higher. Because I have a spoiler and a heavy number plate, my boot barely even pops up above the latch. I had a look to see if I could make any adjustments without buying anything extra, then I remembered that useless quote from njerald saying to adjust the torsion bars, but not stating how for everyone else. So this is what I did, just in case anyone wanted to try this first. Firstly unhook the torsion bars from the retainer in the centre of the boot area: Then fold back or remove the carpeting from the side of the boot and look for the hole where the torsion bar slots into: Then pull the torsion bar out and move it to a higher hole. Going higher increases the tension, going lower will reduce it: Repeat this on the other side, then place the torsion bars back into their retainer like in step one, and you should now find your boot lifting up with a little more strength. Depending on your case, this may improve it enough so that you don't need to get that rubber strap. I didn't want to go for the strap idea because of the way that it pulls on the linkages for the boot. Over time, I worry that it may affect the way the boot opens as the arms would get slightly bent under all the tension from the straps. watch out adjusting tension, when you open the boot in windy conditions, the corners of the bootlid will come in contact with the rear window. mine has done this a couple of times and it worries me that it will break the glass ! <_<
  8. i have had the same problem, droning in that rev range, got straight through redback mufflers, replaced centre res with 10 inch hot dog and 8 inch hotdog before the split at the back, ok when its cold but give it some stick up hills and warm the mufflers up its unbearable, and theres nearly no note at all 2500 and above,. going to try another glass packed oval muffler instead of the hotog up front, will let you know how that goes. Always something I've been interested in doing to an Aurion, I'd love to see a LARGE centre muffler with just two hotdogs at the back. I think half the issue is there's so much pipe with nothing to stop some crazy reverb happening. im thinking along the same lines,i will see what goes with a muffler up front and what sound i will get from the redbacks, if it is too quiet take redbacks off and run with straight pipe out back.

  10. i put redbacks on and replaced centre muffler with a hotdog, but i still have a problem with droning at 2000 to 2500 rpm. going to put another hotdog further back will hopefully fix the problem without taking away the nice note it has down low.
  11. hi all i have a 2007 sportivo sx6, which i use as my taxi. i am not new to toyota cars, as i had a 2003 camry v6 before this car and was extremely reliable.
